I was wandering as I usually do in the afternoons watching people on their afternoon walk after having their smoke break or ice cream break. Every day I spend my time here, sometimes I go near these people sometimes I don't. It is quite amusing to listen to their conversations, almost all of them are complaining about something or the other. Some about their job, some about how much work is pending, some about how her/his boss is dumb, some about how her/his colleague doesn't work, some about the manager having an affair with someone and so on. I used to wonder if the world they live in so bad, and quite a few times felt happy about not being a part of their world. Wandering on the roads, didn't seem so bad after all. Sometimes I also got to listen to some happy conversations, some one being excited about travel, some one happy about some award, some camaraderie in making fun of each other, it was in these moments that I wished I were a part of them.
It was otherwise an unremarkable day, I went near this girl casually, as I usually do sometimes. To my surprise she looked at me, otherwise either I am shooed away or ignored. I lingered around and the girl touched me and petted me. The last time I remember some one approached me with affection was when I was small, "What a cute pup!" they would say. Ever since I had grown up I have always been shooed away, some times out of fear some times out of disgust. The feeling of being responded to was quite wonderful. I enjoyed the attention. "Some day you will be bitten. I'm not saying don't like them but these street dogs they are not even vaccinated, what if you get rabies", said another lady who was with her.
"I should worry if I'm not ready for rabies, I'm okay with the risks involved. See how much he is liking the attention", she said.
I walked with her as she walked ahead, "Oh my god! why is it coming with us, I'm scared", said another girl who was walking with her. She smiled to herself, she seemed to like me. "Okay, now go don't come with us", she said to me, but how could I not. I walked along with them, I saw where they were headed and lead the way. She turned into what was a busy and plush lane, a lane where I usually don't wander, but today I was determined I would go with her. She entered into the premises of a big building, this was a place where dogs like me are not allowed. But I still followed, "Don't come with me, they won't let you", she said. Fortunately there was no guard and I could go with her. I walked ahead, I saw several big vehicles coming in stopping at the entrance and going out. As I went a head one of the security personnel shooed me, I was also quite intimidated by the size of the building and the vehicles, I rushed out. The girl entered the building, as I ran she turned back and looked, there was some concern for me. Some times even the most usual of the days become remarkable.
