A Weekend of Partying and Presents

Posted on the 22 August 2013 by Mummyoftwo @RaspberryGiggle

Over the weekend Little Mr A turned 5.  We had decided on the Saturday we would (some might say foolishly!) have a party at home for him and his friends.  We took inspiration from the imaginary party Little Mr A held for himself a couple of months ago and decided to keep things easy with some party games and chicken nuggets and chips instead of a buffet.

Come Saturday morning I was actually dreading it – the weather was not looking great and I could just imagine a house full of 5 year olds high on sweets and Sodastream going mad!  We decorated the house with the posters and banners I received a short while ago and we were set to go!

As the party guests started arriving the weather was holding so we ushered everyone into the garden (after the present opening) and, once everyone had arrived Big Mr A went into full entertainer mode and started the party games.  They played musical statues, pass the parcel and the chop the chocolate game before having some party food.  After food we had another round of pass the parcel and a game of who can do the best impression before cake and finally home time!

I was really pleased with how well the party went.  Lots of the children told us how much fun they had had and the house actually still looked relatively OK at the end of it!  I would certainly do it again!

On Sunday it was Little Mr A’s actual birthday.  The day started with lots of excitement and present opening.  Later on we took a trip to Toys R Us to let him spend his birthday money.  No surprise that he spent it on Skylanders (and some more Hot Wheels to add to his new collection).

Then came lunch at Frankie and Bennies.  Little Mr A was thrilled when we all sang happy birthday to him and he got to blow out the candle on his pudding!

After lunch Little Mr A’s Granny and Gramps and Aunty and Uncle came back to our house for more present opening!

Overall I think Little Mr A had a great 5th birthday weekend – I’m sure it won’t be long now before his thoughts turn to the next important date in his calendar – Christmas!
