Last Monday, March 19, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines together with the Regional Trial Court-Surigao employees threw a grand party for my aunt, who marked her 70th birthday as well as her retirement from the Judiciary. It was a bittersweet moment but everybody had fun!
What amazed me the most was how those people whom my aunt, Judge Evangeline Yuipco Bayana, have met and worked with have only praises for her. Even her former boss, retired Court of Appeals Justice Oscar Herrera, Sr., through his son Sandiganbayan Justice Oscar Herrera, Jr., wrote a letter saying how he respects and holds my aunt in high regard.
