I was watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire yesterday, and when I saw the scenes at the Quidditch World Cup I felt a warm fluttering in my chest and redness creep across my chest. Because tomorrow morning, at a painfully early hour, I am off to the one and only Glastonbury Festival!
It's so weird, I almost can't find it within me to get excited because I can't quite believe I'm actually going!
Glastonbury is the biggest and most amazing music festival in the entire world, and with tickets that are the notoriously difficult to obtain.
The tickets came out on my birthday last year, and after getting up at the crack of dawn to refresh the page, after half an hour I'd almost given up. But then, in a glimmer of pot luck, in the last 30 seconds of the online sale, I go through and managed to get one.
The line-up this year is INCREDIBLE - I'm actually kinda sad that I like so many of the bands playing, there's inevitably going to be a clash!
This is what the line-up looks like:
I leave tomorrow at the crack of dawn and will not be back until Monday... no doubt with an absolute ABUNDANCE of amazing stories to share with you all.
I'm going to take a notebook (of course) and keep a day-to-day diary of everything that happens while I'm there. (If my drunken mind will let me.)
I'm going with Pistol and The Wonder Crew, and I couldn't think of anyone else better to share the experience with.
It is going to be an absolute riot in every sense, and if there is one person on planet earth with a sense of reckless adventure to match my own, it's Pistol.
The amazing thing about Glastonbury is that it's not just a music festival. It's penned as a 'Festival of Performing Arts' because it just has so much more to offer than just music. For almost 7 days straight, this innocuous little farm in the West Country transforms into the vibrant, thriving 24 hour city of debauchery, adventure, mischief and entertainment.
There will be celebrities wondering around, secret venues, theme park rides, coffee stalls, raves, the main stages, giant open air cinemas, hipsters and hippies everywhere you look, dancing, singing, comedy, theater and everything illicitly procurable under the sun.
It's like the essence of every summer of every year in the experience of every person that has ever lived, has been condensed into this one magical week at the end of June.
I can not WAIT.
See you in a week beautiful creatures, and prepare yourselves for the magnificent tales that shall return with me!
