About 17 Years Ago I Ate a Wonderful Goat

Posted on the 15 November 2014 by Smokeandminds @smokenminds

… better said, I ate some few parts of a goat. Those parts were so fine in taste and texture that I am writing about them now, and it is not the first time I feel the need to tell their story of their influence on me. No meal in fifty-five years is so clear in my mind.

Knowing my sense of taste and being able to recall many of my experiences with perception and joy of more than five decades, I know that I will remember three things as long as I live -

  • that goat and the meal around it
  • the tomatoes I had in New York in 2013, accompanied by a rack of lamb
  • and a “Diademas” from Cuaba from 2008

The latter is the very best cigar I have smoked in my life, it is by far the longest I ever dared to light up. Many other experiences of those  hours I spent on that cigar will accompany me the rest of my life as well – and that should be a message to my dear and new friend, Imai Katsura.

My appreciation goes in addition to Megurosensei, he who prepared that cigar to be smoked for the greatest pleasure possible and carefully lit it up for me, with the dedication, respect and knowledge that the Japanese soul alone can.
