I did a post here about some of the gifts we were getting the kids. Here's how everything went over....
{All pics via Amazon}
Bug got this Crayola kit {in pink, of course} and this gift has been the biggest hit by far! She has hardly set it down since she received it on Christmas Day! She spends most of the day with the kit open beside her while she colors with markers or crayons or practices cutting up TONS of paper with those little scissors. She's going through printer paper at an alarming rate but she's having a grand time with her little art kit! Best decision ever. I'm glad she loves it so much.
We ended up getting the kids each a cheapy, little $3 doodler from Walmart. These have also been a big hit! And my sister gave Bug the bigger Fisher Price doodler, shown above. Bug is even happy to share her Fisher Price doodler with Little C while she's playing with her Crayola art kit. I have to say I think the doodler is a wonderful invention! Kids get to draw and be creative without the mess. This is a great toy for long car rides and Bug even used it during church service with us on New Year's Day.
This dog looks so cute in the picture but I'm really disappointed in it. Little C doesn't want anything to do with it and the dog we received is funny looking! The one we got has a little, tiny head and a big old body. The proportions are off and I don't even like the way it looks. I may try to return it for something else....
Bug loves this white kitten and purse! Of course she loves every new doll or stuffed animal for a short time. I suspect she won't be quite as enamored with this after awhile but for now she really likes it. The kitten is tiny but super cute and really soft and fluffy. I think we got for about $5 plus shipping although it looks like the price went up to $10 after Christmas. Still a great deal for the price. I was so excited to give Little C a Color Wonder set but he's not that impressed with it. He still wants to use Bug's "real" markers. Oh well.
I ended up getting Little C this Melissa & Doug carrier truck the day after Christmas. I had a 50% off coupon at Michaels and got it for around $11. I really love this toy! I love most Melissa & Doug products and the truck and cars seem pretty well made. Both Bug and C have a lot of fun with this.
Bug played with these magnetic dolls one time and seemed to lose interest... or she was just too busy with her art kit. But whatever the case I decided to put them away for now. I think I'll divide up the dolls and outfits and let her play with just a few things at a time. I think she'll probably have a lot of fun with this and it will be a fun, new activity to get out when she's bored.
We also got Little C a Thomas The Train, Early Enginer Rock N' Roll Quarry set. He has absolutely no idea how to operate it. Bug knows how to do it and she seemed to have fun with it but the pieces kept ending up all over the living room. Every time I put it back together C would tear it apart 5 seconds later. It's put away until he's a little older. I'm sure he'll have fun with it later on.
