Exactly a week ago (almost lah), I attended the Acer and Intel ‘PLAYsure Redefined’ Party. Remember I did a Acer Aspire P3 – Redefining Computer post about 2 weeks ago? Well that landed me with 2 invites to Acer and Intel ‘PLAYsure Redefined Party which was held at Poppy Garden in which I blabbered about in this post. LOL
First things first – I needed to find my plus one. Initially Azzam sort of was interested in this event cause he saw my tweet. But he had to go back to his Uni to resit some papers which he did not pass. So I resorted to ask Eu Joe to go with me – and she said okay! Mind you this is the first time I’m going to a club, at the legal age, without family. Haha!
When I was 16, my cousin Nicholas booked a private area in a club for his after-wedding-dinner party. That was my first time going to a club, or so the first time that I remember going. Haha. Dad the Daddy initially (jokingly) assumed that no one would go with me and kept waiting for me to say ‘daddy ah, go with me please!’ LOL.
My awesome dad dropped Eu Joe and I in front of Poppy Garden before 6.30 pm. Haha. At first we thought we were gonna be the first but there were a few people earlier than us. We registered and they gave us an Acer paper bag with some Acer reading material and a glow stick.

The stage area before the event started. Love how they did the layout of the stage area – unique and edgy. LOL. Notice that there’s a hashtag for this event – #myacertouch. There were hashtag contests going on for Twitter and Instagram but I didn’t join in. No idea at that time. Haha!
A little more crowd. See that guy in the fedora, I guess that’s his trade mark. Pfft. He tweeted me, out of curiosity I asked Jon the Bro who this was because my bro ‘liked’ his Facebook page. Jon the Bro told me that this guy goes to all the events and made friends with everyone. Sound like a creepy fella to me so I avoided this guy throughout the whole event. Haha! I told Eu Joe this and she said – yea, even his face look so annoying. No hard feelings dude!
I drank like 4 glasses of Coke throughout the whole event! Haha. I didn’t want to just stand so I stood and drank coke. LOL. With the amount I drunk , obviously I had to pay a visit to the toilet. First trip to a club’s toilet – opens the door to the female toilet and sees a man inside! I was stunned at first! Actually, he was just spraying air freshener into each cubicle. Haha. When he saw my shocked face, he told me – don’t worry, I don’t disturb people. Pfft. Epic toilet experience.
The event started of with a couple of games. For the first game, the contestant needs to bite on an ice cream stick, stack 6 dices on it and hold for 10 seconds. For each game, 3 volunteers were needed. I being a shy chicken, stood all the way at the back and became the observer. Haha! Haven’t been to this kind of event, I didn’t want to risk it.
The guy in green (obviously the one in the middle) won. He was really good! *applauses* The lady on the right, she damn kiasu one. The rule was that you could only use one hand and the other hand at your back. The lady on the right kept using both hands! Even when everyone knew that the green shirt dude was winning, she 死命 still break the rules! At one point, the MC event told her to STOP!
The second game was ‘who can finish the glass of drink the fastest’ I forgot to take a picture of that. I kinda regretted not joining the second game cause I darn well know I can do it. But never mind, there’s always next time. Haha! As you can see above is Thomas, grooving. LOL. The third game was a dance off! And Thomas was dancing to Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.
Next contestant for the dance off was Carolyn (don’t know whether I spelled it correctly or not)! She sort of s…ucked didn’t do too well. Sorry! I didn’t mean to be mean! Her song was Psy’s Oppa Gangnam Style. It’s a really easy song to dance along to I assume but like what the MC have said, she was limping most of the time. LOL. But I give her points for the courage and being sporting! I couldn’t have done that.
The final contestant for the dance off was Jay! He was the best of all 3 contestant, the star of the day. I forgot what song he danced along to. Sorry! Haha! The 3rd contestant was initially a Malay dude named Hidayah (omg! I thought his name sound girly too!) When he heard that it’s a dance off, he immediately backed off and picked Jay to replace him. He said - makan boleh, menari tak boleh (eat can, dance cannot). LOL
After all solo performance, there was Thomas X Jay performance requested by the MC.
After the games, Jeffrey (I think) from Acer briefed everyone about the latest Acer products – as you can see above, the Acer Aspire P3!
And next, the Acer Aspire R7! I thought the Acer Aspire R7 was so much more interesting than the P3! Later, he also introduced the V5 and V7 (if I’m not mistaken!). I did listen to what he was saying but didn’t give my 101% attention as I have no intentions of getting a new laptop / ultrabook cause I have my Samsung! Haha. I’m a Samsung person.
After Jeffrey, there was this guy from Intel giving his speech about Intel (I guess?). I wasn’t quite listening to him because he was boring not interesting to listen to. Plus I guess I was hungry. Haha!
After the unknown dude’s speech, the buffet table was opened! However, Eu Joe and I waited like 10 minutes later only we went and queue. There was mushroom soup (quite yummy!), raw vege (tasted raw LOL), popiah and samosa with sweet and sour sauce (it was alright), fried rice (yummeh!!!), curry chicken (not bad..), spaghetti (tasty!) and mixed vege (tasteless). Their utensils were really heavy! I was afraid I might drop them. Haha!
While I was eating the grouped games started. The MC wanted 8 groups but he ended up with only 4. LOL. The grouped games were ‘who could answer the question (about Acer’s product) the quickest’ and a mini sketch. It wasn’t that interesting, to me lah.
Then the climax of the event arrived! I guess it’s the how-to-mix-music-with-the-P3-like-a-DJ part.
DJ Vera and her other fellow DJ (sorry I don’t know her name!) were there to mix the music (I guess) , do the stuff DJ’s do, and pose for cameras. Haha! They posed for my camera too leh!
The crowd. I’m not much of a partying kinda person. The main reason I attended this event (besides winning the invites) was just to experience the whole thing! Observe the kinda people who attend these event, see how people dress, disgust at balding uncles from Acer and Intel trying to party like a young lad (HAHA!), and watch how people behave. LOL
First picture of me in this post! Haha! I’m the one in the rainbow stripy dress! Not the monochrome twins in the background. LOL. Since it’s my first at this kinda event, I’d rate this event a 7/1o. I didn’t really like the fact that they served dinner at 9 pm ! I’m a hungry human! Haha! I actually wanted to make new friends. But Eu Joe ain’t that kind who likes to talk to new people (I think lah), so maybe I’ll make new friends other time? Haha!
A lot of people who went to this event sort of knew each other. I felt a tiny bit outta place. Haha! About the picture above, is NITE CLUB a mistake or they purposely misspell it to make it look cool? LOL I have no idea. Oh! And I saw Jin Lim of Jinnyboy TV for real for the first time too! I expected him to look more handsome? Haha! Like what Eu Joe said – saw Jinnyboy, not starstruck.
This is me, post-party look. Haha! Macam tak party je muka. LOL. I should learn how to draw my eyebrow. I look like I have not much eye brow in this picture. Haha! Before I forget, anyone who submitted their evaluation form of the event would receive a door gift. The door gift is an Acer traveling adapter that comes in a black lil pouch!
