"SHOW, DON'T TELL"WRITING YOUR STORY VISUALLY
FADE IN:
INT. IN FRONT OF YOUR COMPUTER - NOW
SCRIPTED WHIM                    Write visually. Pay strict   attention to what you
   envision is on the screen.
   Avoid invading a character's
   thoughts because the audience
   cannot "see" thoughts. Instead,
   create an action that
   encapsulates the thought. A
   character is not hungry. A
character eats a slice of pizza.
                   This exercise will help you
                   hone your descriptive skills.

SCRIPTED WHIM                    Watch the wrestling match above
with the sound off. Write a
   script detailing the story using
   only action description. Keep in
   mind that both characters have
   clearly defined goals and pay
close attention to how each shows
   his personality. FADE OUT:THE END
