Kritika and Nishant were navigating through the busy Gariahat market in Kolkata, they were on a mission to buy some wares. While Kritika was looking at the cheap prints of movies displayed on the pavement.
Nishant chuckled and pointed out "look, look!". As Kritika shifted her attention from the CDs to the direction in which Nishant was pointing. She realized he was pointing to the transgenders... She wanted to slap Nishant and run .........

Anisha was attending her cousin's wedding.
"So when are you getting married? It is your turn next", asked one of those gigly girls
"I am lesbian. I have a partner. "
There was a moment of silence in the room, followed by laughter dismissing the idea.
"If that is the case then we'll find a guy for your partner first"
3.
"Why doesn't he declare that he is gay?", said Ankita
"But he might not be gay.."
"Looking at him anyone can say, he is"
4.
"Does your mother know?", said Akash
"What?", asked Priyank puzzled
"You are not married, so......"
"So??"
"That you are gay", said Akash in a suppressed voice
Priyank chose to ignore him.
But Akash persisted "By the way how do they do it?"
Priyank was quite disturbed by now "So how do you do it with your wife?" he asked in a casual manner.
"How can you ask such questions??", Akash was visibly shaken.
5.
"Look Look he is wearing a pink shirt...."
6.
"Gay, eww....dirty"
We might chose to ignore it but we as a society (referring to the world) are deeply problematic. We seem to have problem with everything. Wearing a certain kind of clothes is gay, not wearing a certain kind of clothes is gay, covering the entire body is conservative, not covering the entire body is slutty.....and the tags never seem to end. We have fallen into the trap of defining everything. Gender can be a fluid thing, who decides having facial hair is male, a certain kind of body is female etc.
Then we have pseudo sciences talking about how men and women are different, all sticking to the stereotypical definitions. What If I say I'm 78% female and 22% male, how would they think I should behave. What if I sport a beard and wear a dress or expose my hairy legs, why should it affect the world. As long as I am comfortable why should the world be bothered. Why should I be subject to weird gaze if I sport breast and a penis, after all it is my body, I can do whatever I want with it. Or what if I don't belong to any of it.
Will we ever accept that we come in all sizes, shapes, kinds, genders or the lack of it in nature (yes naturally) and this is what makes the world a beautiful place!
