All the Way from London..

Posted on the 05 September 2013 by Mikidemann @mikidemann
Sarah and Laura have an incredible that I've been following for quite some time now. They are a fabulous femme couple that has very entertaining and passionate posts. I highly suggest you follow their blog. Not only is it so cool that they live in London (says a girl who has never lived outside of Utah), but they have roots here in 'merica too. Laura is actually from Idaho, which is where both of my pups came from. Also, these two are planning their wedding! If you have an opportunity - GO READ their engagement story :) Anyway, I could talk about these 2 all day, but you came here to listen to them! Here ya go..
Hiya readers of Miki's brilliant blog! We are so excited to be guest-posting answering questions while Miki is on holiday this week. We are Sarah & Laura, a British and American femme couple blogging over at Sprezzatura. Sarah is from London, and Laura is from Idaho (where we are actually currently visiting!), and we live in a little flat overlooking the Thames river in London. We got engaged in December last year, and are planning our wedding in Idaho for June next year. We blog about our many travels, wedding planning, and our lovely life together in London!
And now to the questions!
What is your favorite photo of yourself and why?
S: This is actually taken on a beach in Thailand last summer, and I love it because it is the first photo in my swimsuit I have seen and thought I look really good! Not in an egotistical way, but in a way I never thought I would. Growing up I was described as a 'plank' or 'surfboard' or 'straight-up-and-down' or 'rectangular', all ways of saying I could have looked like a boy and not at all womanly. I felt pretty much that they were all fair descriptions but since meeting L I have found ways of embracing the curves I do have (helped in part by her fantastic cooking skills) and this photo is the first point where I could finally say I'm happy to look like a real, curvy, woman!
All the way from London..
L: My favorite photo of me at the moment is probably this one from our Pride London parade this year. Each year we dress up in matching costumes, this year we went as princesses ('and they lived happily ever after' and all that!) I love this photo of me because I think it's me in my natural state - a princess! In all seriousness, I love it because I look so darn happy - I'm happy because I have someone that is willing to dress up and parade around London in ridiculous costumes with me (costumes in public in daylight isn't really a British thing), who looks adorable in her own princess outfit (proof HERE), and who makes me feel like royalty every day!
All the way from London..
What is that will make you laugh no matter what?
S: Laura's impression and word-for-word rapping of 'Baby Got Back' by Sir Mix A Lot - classic! I loved the song before I ever met L but she makes it come to life in her very unique way!
L: This video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnydFmqHuVo I don't know why it tickles me so much, Sarah doesn't really find it funny at all! Also, Sarah's attempt at an American accent usually gets me - we aren't all Honey Boo Boo, my love!
Do you have a recurring dream?( I.E. You're giving a speech and then realize you're naked. )
S: I'm not really a dreamer unfortunately - it makes for a brief convo when walking to work, I always ask L about hers then by the time it gets to me I'm always like 'well I don't remember a thing'! For a while I did have a few dreams about going back to school and having a talent that made me stand out from everyone - singing, then dancing, then art! It is always great!
L: I don't really have recurring dreams, as much as recurring locations. Does anyone else do this? I have dreams a few times a month set in one of the same three locations that I made up in a dream years ago. My personal favorite is a beachfront town with an underwater cable car which takes you out of the ocean and up to a satellite where you can look over the whole world and skydive. I have really intense dreams.
Do you consider yourself a night owl or a morning bird?
S: L is definitely making me more into a night owl - I can make it to 2am now where as midnight used to come and I'd be asleep wherever I was - cars, cinemas, even nightclubs!
L: I'm an extreme night owl - I hate getting up early but somehow am fine to stay up doing all sorts until 3am. Sarah has to drag me to bed most evenings, as I've been known to decide it's a great time to go for a run, do some baking, color code my wardrobe... you get the idea!
What do you admire about someone else's personality that you wish you had in your personality?
S: I wish I was more outgoing. I am painfully shy at times, so much so that I have to orchestrate situations so I have a reason to talk to them, ie. 'Oh I just picked up your post by accident....can I ask you a question?' I wish I could just talk to people without the fear of rejection. When I am talking to clients at work I have no issue, but someone sits in the next desk to me? *FREAK OUT*.
L: I really admire my lady's ability to stay logical and calm in times of pressure, and when things go wrong. She's like a duck, furiously peddling underneath but cool as a cucumber on top - I'm the complete opposite, a mess when unexpectedly things don't happen like I planned, and getting emotionally attached to things and people which causes upset - she really is the yin to my yang, and keeps me together when I might have previously fallen apart.
What is the coolest vacation you've ever been on, what made it so memorable?
S and L: We both say New Zealand for this one! We spent 9 days driving around the South Island in a converted mini-van motorhome, and it was perfect - just us, the open road and some of the most gorgeous scenery we've ever witnessed. We camped on the beach, took a helicopter ride over a glacier, got out and walked on top of a mountain, did the world's tallest bungee swing - together! - and walked through a cave of glow worms, completely alone. It's another world down there, and we definitely recommend EVERYONE going if you get a chance! We did a blog post on it if you want to see more!
Who are your celeb crushes (1 male/ 1 female)? What would you do if you met them?
S: David Beckham and Britney Spears, definitely! Love everything about both of them! I've seen Britney in concert 5 times so far, and taken Laura to 3 of them. Any other time I've met a famous person (there have been a few) I have awkwardly talked to them as if I knew them. Rhys Ifans (from Notting Hill) was in front of me at the shops and I asked him 'how his day was' because I thought I knew him - oops. When Prince William knocked me over I told him 'he should watch where he was going' - he'd bought me an apology drink before I realised who he was :/ oh and when we met the guy who plays Draco Malfoy in London we were dressed as an Angel and Devil and directed him on how to stand for the best photo op! So I'd probably act cool and say hi- ask them if they were having a good day, ask for a photo - check the photo to make sure it isn't awful (a lesson L has taught me) then run around a corner and call someone to tell them :) All the way from London..All the way from London..
L: My top female and male crush are married to each other, which is awesome, and I loved them both before I knew that! It's Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel. They are just stunning, and so talented. I loved them in Rent, as I'm a huge musical theater geek, and their voices - wow! Such hotties. Honestly, I'd probably cry if I met them - I'm the opposite of Sarah in these situations, I'm the fan famous people do not want to meet. I saw Pippa Middleton (sister of Kate) in the shops, not even a proper celeb, and stared her down awkwardly because I didn't know where I knew her from. Probably better if I admire the Diggs family from afar haha! All the way from London..
What's one thing about you that is shocking or unexpected?
S: People are most surprised that I am marrying a woman, and even more so that I am marrying a lady from Idaho! When I mention both those things here in the UK people are often more shocked that I am marrying someone from Idaho - most people in here have NEVER heard of such a place! When I then follow it with we are actually getting married in Idaho the next question is 'Why?' My reply makes me sound like a tour operator for the state - I mean, why wouldn't I want to marry the most beautiful person I know in the most beautiful place?!
L: Hmmm, well, I have three passports (USA, UK and Australia), was bitten by a dog and had to have $3,000 worth of rabies shots, and, I'll tag onto Sarah's answer. People are always really surprised that I'm engaged to a woman, and I think also that both of us are so girly - breaking all sorts of stereotypes over here!
We hope you've enjoyed our answers, we'd love to see you over at the blog, on Twitter, or on the street in Boise, Idaho over the next few weeks haha! All the way from London..
