And So... Let Me Tell You How It Goes in My Writing Life... #row80 Midweek Check In

Posted on the 30 January 2013 by Juliejordanscott @juliejordanscot

ROW80LogocopyHere’s the good writing news: I have been writing patootie off. Seriously, writing like a banshee. Lots and lots of words, quickly written words, fun words, happy words. Evocative words. I have basically been having a word orgy lately.

I almost want to write something about a word-gasm but I thought that might be overdoing it. If no one says "Get that smut out of your check ins!" come back next Wednesday and I'll tell you all about it.

I have followed some of my goals… as always the worst result is on the editing. I am going to subtract my high expectations for myself there since I tend to do the “all or nothing stuff”… goes like this: “See how badly you suck, Julie! Oh, forget it you loser…” and the goal (and I) get pushed under water for a while, buried in a combination of self loathing and self pity.

This time, though, is different. I have committed to ROW80 darn it and I will stay here whether or not I get any comments, whether or not people think I am funny or cute or intellectual or a literary genius. It doesn’t matter what others think (although I love your praise and compliments) what matters is I keep going. I keep writing. I keep editing. I keep loving words because… it is my calling!

Oh, and this is EXCITING for me! I finished reading Wired for Story: The Writer's Guide to Using Brain Science to Hook Readers from the Very First Sentence by Lisa Cron. It was fantastic! Now I need to find another craft book to read. I have found some

When I am not writing words, sometimes working on mixed media with book pages helps.... When I am not writing words, sometimes working on mixed media with book pages helps... I would like to read, just haven’t started.

I am even right on schedule with my reading challenge.

And ok, I will not report anymore, that will be SUNDAY. Wednesdays are my posts about BEING a writer, not the writing I am doing.

With that, I will see y’all on Sunday. I will give you the gory details of my writing goals and I think I will do better on the editing. I know I can. I know I can, I know I can!

Word- Love to Each and All!
