Angels Watching Over Me

A is for Angels

It seems appropriate to begin the A to Z Challenge with the word “Angels”. I have several angels watching over me.

But first, special thanks to Arlee Bird,  Founder of this exciting A to Z Challenge – a mega blog hop that runs all through April.

Haiku in your honor, Arlee!

Angels watching over me

A for April is a very special month for me for various reasons: my Mother’s birthday, the Tamil New Year, friends’ birthdays and some very special personal events.

So back to my…

…angels watching over me.

Angels watching over me

Thank you Etsy.com

They watch over me with love, encouraging me as I smile through life. I’d like to appreciate them today, with gratitude.

My Mom:

Married at 13 and abandoned at 18 to raise me as a single parent, my Mother rocked. Generous in life and generous in death. My mentor, inspiration, shining light who brought me into this world and taught me to kick ass, be strong, loving and never say die, who was a great cook, who believed everyone had a good side, who shared so much laughter with me, who had the softest hands.

My Grandmother:

(Oh yeah, the women ruled in my life!) The strong silent supportive Goddess with her enigmatic smile, who shunned laziness and never tired of feeding people, no matter what time of day it was, who nurtured her family, keeping them together, united. Who loved analyzing crime cases, cricket matches and politics. Who was married at 3 and lived to be 87.  Who was intuitive, serene and spoke wisely. Who made me believe that there’s a guardian angel always sitting on my shoulders, waiting to make every one of my wishes come true and advised me to be careful what I wished for.

My Husband:

Who believes in me, loves me and always supports me in whatever I do even if it bombs.  And praises me and keeps me young with his fabulous sense of humor!

My Son:

Who constantly reflects back joy and love, whose single-minded focus on everything he does fascinates me, whose smile lights up my world, who loves music, who is a confirmed softie, and who I hope to have over as a guest poster during the A to Z Challenge.

My Uncles:

Who were my friends and loving mentors and made my childhood a joyous and happy one with their patience, stories and affection.

My Friends:

Who fill my world with happiness and encourage me all the time by being there for me, no matter what. Let me share this wonderfully encouraging verse from a friend I received by email this morning:

Keep blogging around the clock
Don’t even think of writer’s block
Put your thoughts on paper
and make copies to be safer
Then sit back and take stock

- Dr. Chandra Senan

My Teachers:

Who motivated me through the years, inspiring self-confidence and the belief that I could achieve anything I set my mind to.

Who are the angels in your life, dear friends?
