Now that Tyne is 14 months old (Oh my god, how did that happen?!) it seems that the exciting "firsts" are much less frequent.
Although we are still waiting for first steps, once those happen there probably won't be many firsts for a while...not until we reach the First Day At School and First Time Riding A Bike anyway and those are things I'm not ready to think about yet!
One of the firsts I have always looked forward to is the First "proper" pair of shoes.
It's always been something of a tradition in my family to go to Clarks for the first shoes and that's exactly what we did.
We went to the New Mersey Retail Park store when we were visiting my parents in Liverpool last week....we arrived about 20 minutes before closing time so I was a little concerned that they may rush us or not be too interested in taking a photo for us, but I needn't have worried.
The girl who saw to us was just lovely - so welcoming and friendly, Tyne took an instant liking to her which really helped.
She asked what stage Tyne was at with walking and suggested Cruisers would be the best option for us as they encourage babies to walk but are flexible for crawling too - she showed us to the relevant section and we were spoiled for choice.
Tyne made the final decision by grabbing the pair he liked....Navy Combi Leather Cruisers.
The navy & tan colours seem like they will work well with most outfits, and I love the deck shoe style - plus the velcro fastening makes them easy to get on and off, and I just adored the little train design on the sole!
Tyne was measured and came up as a 4G, the assistant tried the shoes on him and had a good feel to make sure he had room in them.
Once we were happy with the fitting she took a lovely keepsake photo for us - she happily kept snapping until she got a nice smiley photo, it seemed like nothing was too much trouble for her!
The photo is presented in a gorgeous keepsake card with the date he was measured, and it sits proudly in our living room.
As for the shoes - Tyne seems to find them very comfortable as he doesn't try to immediately pull them off like he does with other shoes, and they certainly seem to help him stay steady on his feet.
He has been wearing them for almost 2 weeks now and there is no scuffing or visible marks on the shoes at all, I think £26.00 is a very reasonable price for such a high quality pair of shoes and the service I received in store made me very keen to continue shopping with Clarks for all of Tyne's future shoes.
