Argh, Let's Set Sail Matey!

Posted on the 30 August 2013 by Mikidemann @mikidemann
I can hardly wait. I have been doing an antsy dance in my chair all week long. I can't keep my legs still and I've been spinning back and forth day dreaming about all the fun I am about to have. On Sunday we are taking off on our Lake Powell adventure. It's so incredible for me that there is this paradise only 6 hours away from me. I sure love living in Utah, because the outdoor life is amazing. Mountains, deserts, lakes, canyons all within a few hours. We're a very lucky state.
Some people may not know how incredible Lake Powell is, those of you who have been there, understand. Those who have not... well you NEED to go. Put this on your bucket list. It's the Grand Canyon filled with water. There is red rock everywhere you look and the water is 1,000's of feet deep, but so warm. You can take your boat and see the Hoover Dam from the bottom to the top. It's INCREDIBLE! There are ancient tribal caves you can hike to and walk through. There are so many amazing things to see down there.
This was our spot last year, we had our own piece of forgotten Canyon.Argh, let's set sail Matey!
The bottom line is: It's really warm, you get to lounge in a bikini all week, and you're on a lake. Does it really get any better than that?
No... It doesn't... unless you add 24 incredibly fun friends, a houseboat, 2 speed boats, 2 jet ski's, a handful of water toys, some fishing poles, and a pirate prom.
Argh, let's set sail Matey!
Yes, now it's perfect.
I am so excited to take off and head to Powell. We did this trip last year and I think I almost formed a 6 pack from laughing so hard. Plus Jared looks REALLY REALLY sexy in a swimsuit and I get to take that fellow to bed every night. He makes me swoon. High five!
Last year we played the newly wed game on top of the houseboat. We had 6 couples participate (Jared and I were one of them) and we had a full audience, we had a game show host, and the whole thing was quite the production.
We also had "classy night" where we only ate, drank and dressed classy. (Yes, this is classy, for Powell)

This year we stepped the fun and games up a notch. Our theme is "Pirates", we all have eye patches, bandana's, skull flags, press on tattoos, I mean it's going to get crazy. We also have a Pirate Prom that is taking place. Our friends are so much fun and I haven't taken a vacation since our Powell trip last year, so I can't even put into words how excited I am. I can't wait to set sail this coming Sunday! AH!
The bad part is that I still need to pack... oops! I'll do that today.
I do have a handful of posts scheduled for next week so come visit me even while I'm gone!
Have you ever been to Lake Powell? Or a vacation that sounds similar?
