AshbyTreats.Com - Traditional Sweet Shop...On The Web!!!
Posted on the 31 May 2013 by Sparklesandstretchmarks @raine_fairyOne of my favorite memories from childhood has to be popping in to the little village sweet shop after school every day with my pocket money, and treating myself to a 20 pence mix.
Over recent years, it seems that old fashioned traditional sweet shops are disappearing one by one and being replaced by supermarkets etc - for me, it just doesn't have the same charm when you're treating your kids to sweeties!
So while playing around on the internet, looking for gift ideas for my nieces in Devon as I often do, I stumbled across a website that reminded me of my childhood visits to the sweet shop.....
www.ashbytreats.com is the website belonging to Sweet Memory Lane - a traditional family run sweet shop based in Ashby-De-La-Zouch - browsing their website, my mind draws up images of walls lined with clear glass jars filled with little drops of sugar-coated heaven and my mouth waters at the imagined scent of sweet, warm, crumbly fudge.
This is exactly the kind of shop I would happily take a trip out to on a Sunday afternoon, to spend a while looking at the various sweets I so loved in childhood and - of course - treating myself to some goodies!
Unfortunately, Ashby-De-La-Zouch is a bit too far away for a Sunday drive.....
But imagine my delight when I realised that this lovely little shop has a section of their website dedicated to selling their sweets online!
The Online Sweet Shop sells all kinds of tempting treats - from gourmet liquorice to traditional 100g bags of sweets such as apple bon bons and barley sugar, and all kinds in between - there really is so much here to keep any sweet toothed Mummy or her little darlings happy for hours!
Personally I am very tempted by the fudge selection - with flavours on offer such as Apricot Brandy and Tiramisu, I'm finding it pretty much impossible to resist ordering some!
I will certainly be choosing some goodies from the Tuck Shop Treats section for my nieces - can you think of anything cuter than having old fashioned sweeties delivered by post?! I certainly can't!!!
The gorgeous Home Baking Jars are really gorgeous and would make an ideal gift!! You simply add eggs and butter for delicious home made brownies or rainbow cookies! At just £9.50 I think these are such a bargain!
To take a look at the goodies on offer for yourself just go to www.ashbytreats.com - I guarantee you'll be charmed!
