Baby Must Haves: Feeding

Posted on the 04 September 2013 by Wifessionals @wifessionals
Registering was so overwhelming for me as a first time mom. I read through hundreds of blog posts from other mamas and also compared tons of reviews. In the weeks that followed our baby shower, I was so happy to see so many moms state that their favorite products were ones on my registry! I am really confident in the items we chose, so I thought I would share our choices with you. I created a little mini series to cover all the major groups of items and gear that we own for our little one. I also plan to update you all as time passes and we use these things once she is born.
Go check out the items we already covered:
Baby Must Haves: Essentials
Baby Must Haves: Gear
Baby Must Haves: Nursery

Baby Must Haves: Feeding
Luna Lullaby Bosom Baby Nursing Pillow: I was given this pillow from Luna Lullaby for the Small Business Series I did on the blog. I also featured it on my Baby Must Haves: Maternity. This pillow is awesome because it doubles as a maternity pillow and breastfeeding pillow. It is SO much more fluffy and sits higher than the Boppy (I own one of those as well). It also is in a V-shape so it can truly fit around any sized woman.
Boon Lawn, Flower & Twigs: Not only are these the cutest way to dry your bottles, they come highly recommended by thousands of moms. I was told to definitely get the "lawn" instead of the "grass" and to purchase multiple accessories. We got the flower and two gray twigs so we would have plenty of room to hang all of our bottle and breastpump parts.
Munchkin Dishwasher Basket: I also was told this basket would do the trick for our Dr. Brown's bottles. I chose "random color" and it just so happened we got sent pink.
OXO Tot Bottle Brush: I love that it comes in cute colors, has a stand and also offers a nipple cleaner for the bottles.
Nursing Pads: I got a huge box of these disposable nursing pads, but I also have reusable, washable pads as well. I heard that the washable pads are softer and better for the beginning weeks when you are really sore.
Ameda ComfortGel Pads: Supposedly great to have on hand. You can place them in the freezer for instant relief. I only purchased one set, but if I need more, they also sell these at Target.
Blames Highchair: I've been obsessed with this highchair from the first time I laid eyes on it. Then we found out they aren't carrying it at our Ikea anymore. So I had to order it and have it delivered. Even with the delivery cost, it was still much cheaper than most highchairs I looked at. It was important for me to have a chair with no fabric, as it grossed me out that food and other stuff could get permanently stuck to it. This chair is easy to clean and also looks like a piece of furniture rather than another baby item around the house.
Medela Pump In Style BreastpumpAccessories: This is the highest rated brand for breastpumps - even my hospital uses them. My sister in law said that if I was going to buy a pump, invest in one that pumped well...she would know because she had twins last year. She also recommended that I buy at least one set of extra accessories so I wasn't having to clean them every single time I pump. The Army and Tricare falls outside of the healthcare act that allows you to get free pumps from your insurance. We decided to invest in a good pump now that will hopefully last through all of our kids.
Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Wide Neck Newborn Bottles: These bottles cut back on the amount of gas your baby will get from bottle feeding. I was also told to get the wide neck, as they mimic a "breast" more than the skinny bottles and cause less "confusion". My sister in law and friends have had great experiences with these bottles. The only downside is that they have more parts, but I'm willing to deal with that for the benefits.
