Baby Watch: OMG You're 2 Months Old!!!!

Posted on the 28 May 2013 by Sparklesandstretchmarks @raine_fairy
Dear Tyne,
OMG you are now 2 months old!!!!I know I say this everytime I write one of these posts, but seriously - I cannot BELIEVE that you are already 2 months old!!!
I will continue to refer to your age in weeks as it sounds younger that way, and I want to keep you as a teeny weeny little baby for as long as possible!
Eating & Sleeping
Since the last post we have changed you onto Hungry Baby milk because we felt like you weren't going for long enough between feeds and you seemed to be hungry all the time - I was worried that you might take well to the new milk but you didn't have any problems at all!We also changed your teats to the Vari-Flow ones as you seemed to be taking aaaaaages to drink them.
Now you are taking either four or five ounces each feed, it tends to take you between 15-20 minutes to drink most of the time - although sometimes you play around and it can take a lot longer!!!You are lasting usually 3 or 4 hours between feeds now, which is much better than before - your tummy also seems to be more settled as you don't seem to be having the same problems with constipation that you were having a few weeks ago.

As for sleeping - that still isn't perfecting but it's definitely improving gradually, so thats ok.You're brand new and we need to accept that its going to take you a while to learn how things work - like night time is for sleeping!!
You now tend to wake around 4 am for a feed, and then wake around 7.30 am - that's not too bad, and the important thing is that you now settle back to sleep after your 4 am feed MUCH easier than you used to! (I personally think thats because Mummy has started to do this feed instead of Daddy ;) hehe!)
Also, you have now started to sleep in your gro-bags. I was worried that you wouldn't like them after being used to cellular blankets, but you seem much happier in them as you can't kick them off so they keep you nice and warm all night long!

Cradle Cap Cured!
You've had such bad dry, crusty skin along the top of your forehead for ages now and its really been bugging me - normal cradle cap in your hair isn't too bad as your hair covers it but the stuff along your forehead really bothered me.
Nanny read online that olive oil poured straight onto it and rubbed in cures it, we didn't have any so instead I did the same thing with baby oil - we had been using baby oil everyday anyway but I tried it a different way. Last night I poured the baby oil right over your head - lots of it! - and rubbed it in. I then rinsed it out with water and shampooed your hair twice.
Today the crusty skin was still there but I noticed that instead of being hard and scabby, it was soft and oily - so I ran my nail along it and it all just flaked away really easily!!! A few minutes of me sitting there picking at it and your head was completely clear!!!
You now have a beautiful flake-free head again! Perfect!!! :)
Your Routine
The buzz word with a new baby around is definitely "routine" - everybody else seems to be obsessed with the idea of them and I'm always being asked about ours or told that we need to establish one.
I've never really believed in routines that much personally - as long as everything that needs to happen happens, I don't think its all that important to stick to a strict schedule.

Your general routine at the moment is:
07:30-08:30 am - Wake up, lay next to Mummy and snuggle for a bit.09.00 - Get up with Daddy, get changed, have a bottle.10:30-11:00 - Get dressed for the day, have cuddles and chats with people, or go in your rocker or swing, or maybe go for a walk in your pram.12:30 - 13:00 - Have a bottle, go to sleep.15:30-16:00 - Wake up, have a bottle.16:00-16:30 - Usually go back to sleep or sometimes stay away for a while and have chats19:30-20:00 - Wake up, have a bottle. Then this is usually your wide awake time!20:00-22:00 - Have chats and cuddles, go on Baby Gym or do Tummy Time, watch Baby TV22:30 - Bath time23:00 - Bottle and bed03:30-04:00 - Wake up for a feed, then back to sleep.07:30 - 08:30 am - Start all over again! :)
Things You've Done Lately....
You've been smiling LOTS more lately - this week you even kind of laughed a bit! You often make a "laughing" face but no sound comes out - but one time this week you were "silent laughing" at me and a little giggle noise actually came out! Very cute!
You have also started to "shout" a lot more lately and often make a random loud singular noise which seems to be to get attention!
We bought you a Tummy Time aid and you seem to quite enjoy using it - but only for a few minutes and then you get quite bored!!!

You met Paula, Jack & Ellen for the first time this week when they visited from Ireland - they brought you lovely gifts and you were very good when Ellen & Jack held you.

That's all of our news for now!

Lots of Love,Mummy xoxo
