Bad Smell? Here's How to Freshen Up Your Home

Bad smells hanging around your home…well, like a bad smell? It can be annoying and embarrassing, not to mention unpleasant, but you know what? You can find out what’s causing the stink and get rid of it once and for all. Here’s how:

1. Find the Culprit (Don’t Be Scared)

If you want your home to stop smelling bad, then the first thing you need to do is, obviously, find the source of the stink. Is it coming from the fridge? Could it be emanating from the drains? Has your dog been ringing in something stinky and burying it under his bed? You need to start sniffing around until you find out what’s up, so you can do something about it.

2. Deal with the Drains Like a Pro

Speaking of drains, they’re a hotspot for gunk build-up, and let’s just say it’s not a lavender-scented spa down there. If your sink or shower smells like it’s hosting a science experiment, it’s time to call in the big guns.

This is where Drain 2 Clear MK comes in. They’ll sort out those drains faster than you can light another “odour neutralising” candle that doesn’t actually neutralise anything. With experts on hand, they’ll have your pipes sparkling clean (or as close as pipes get to sparkling) in no time.

Plus, no more awkwardly trying to DIY your way out of a blockage with half a bottle of bleach and a wire coat hanger.

3. Fridge Funk? Fight Back!

Is your fridge the culprit? That jar of “perfectly fine” chutney you’ve been ignoring for two years might beg to differ. Give the fridge a deep clean, toss anything questionable (yes, even the mystery Tupperware), and pop in a box of baking soda to absorb odours.

Or, for a fancier touch, slice a lemon in half, stick some cloves in it, and let it work its citrusy magic. Bonus: it makes you feel like an old-school domestic goddess.

4. Wash What You Forgot Can Smell

Soft furnishings like curtains, rugs, and even your sofa can absorb smells like a sponge. Give them a proper clean or at least a good airing out. While you’re at it, check your washing machine—if it’s smelling funky, run a hot cycle with vinegar to give it a fresh start.

And don’t forget to wash your pet’s bed. That thing smells worse than wet dog because, well, it is wet dog.

5. Bring in the Big Guns: Natural Air Fresheners

Forget chemical sprays that smell like cheap hotel lobbies. Go for natural options like essential oil diffusers, scented candles, or simmering a pot of water with cinnamon and orange peel on the hob. Not only does it smell amazing, but it’ll also make your home feel like a posh Christmas market all year round.

And if you’re really in a pinch, boil some vinegar on the stove—it absorbs smells like magic. Just maybe do this when guests aren’t around, unless you want your home to smell like a fish and chip shop for a bit.

Ok

6. Prevention is Better Than Cure

To keep your home smelling fresh, stay on top of regular cleaning. Empty bins before they revolt, clean the drains (or call Drain 2 Clear MK before it’s a full-on crisis, and let them check out your drains with the latest CCTV tech), and invest in some good-quality air purifiers.

If all else fails, you can always pretend you’re going for a “rustic farmyard chic” vibe and blame it on the neighbours.
