Balancing Life and Fitness: A Guide for Busy Mums in Their 30s
Kickstart Your Day with a Healthy Routine

Start your morning on a healthy note. Carve out some time for a workout that energizes you and sets a positive tone for the day. Whether it's yoga, a jog, or a quick HIIT session, choose an activity you enjoy and aligns with your fitness goals. I will combine with some indoor cycling, yoga and log walks, depending on the time I have or the mood I'm in. It's good to be flexible with what you do to ensure you don't lose motivation.

Fit in Exercise Throughout the Day

As a multitasking mum, find creative ways to include exercise in your daily routine. Turn everyday tasks into mini-workouts. Try doing squats while folding laundry, lunges during playtime with the kids, or calf raises while dinner cooks. These small bursts of activity add up and keep you active and fit. It's the summer holidays here and so my two are keeping me busy with football sessions and random dance routines - hard to say no when they're having so much fun.

Make the Most of Lunch Breaks

Instead of mindlessly scrolling through your phone during lunch, make it a time for self-care. Step outside for a brisk walk or jog to clear your mind and get some exercise. You'll return to work feeling refreshed and focused. This is something I have promised myself I will do come September (teacher), not only for physical health, but mental health also.

Elevate Your Workstation with Desk Exercise Equipment

For mums who spend lots of time at their desks, consider adding desk exercise equipment to your workspace. A compact under-desk elliptical like Cubii is a great option. Pedal away while working on emails or attending virtual meetings. It's a seamless way to keep moving and burn calories while handling your work responsibilities.

Fun and Active Family Time

Make fitness a fun family affair. Engage your kids in activities that get everyone moving and enjoying quality time together. Take family walks or bike rides, have dance parties at home, or play outdoor games. You'll set a healthy example for your children and create cherished memories. We love family walks and are big fans of the AllTrails app that helps us to discover some amazing family walks  - we have had some of the best days out using this all.

Prioritize Self-Care

Taking care of yourself is essential. Set aside time in the evening for relaxation and rejuvenation. Enjoy a warm bath, practice mindfulness, or do some gentle stretches to release tension. Prioritizing self-care allows you to recharge and be the best version of yourself for your family and work. It's something I regularly talk about here on Mummy B and working on yourself is so incredibly important and you can read more about this here.
Busy mums in their 30s, you're truly remarkable! By incorporating these practical strategies into your daily routine, you can strike a balance between your responsibilities and your own well-being. Remember, taking care of yourself is not selfish—it's an investment in your long-term health and happiness and there is no shame in that.
