That's exactly what happened this weekend - we went into the Bank Holiday with very few plans, not knowing what to expect from the weather and not being sure what we felt like doing.
We spent Saturday in Exeter - Jon has a very geeky little hobby of painting war models, and there was a convention for such geekery taking place there that he wanted to go to - to be honest it's just about the last place in the world I'd choose to spend my Saturday (or ANY day!) but he loved it bless him ... he treated himself to a couple of things and won a couple of raffle prizes, so his weekend was made!
Our Sunday plans were pretty much to do nothing apart from possibly go for a walk in Torquay....
But last night I was browsing through my Facebook timeline when I saw a friends photos of her niece with a real Thomas The Tank Engine - I asked where they'd been, and my friend told me that their local steam railway had done a Thomas day....
I remembered seeing the Days Out With Thomas ads on Nick Jr but last time I'd checked the website there were none near us....I thought I'd check again last night just incase and it turned out that there was a Day Out With Thomas taking place in Totnes (10 minutes drive from us!) today!!!
I think me & Jon were more excited than Tyne....but we know that he LOVES Thomas, so we had to go!
We were blessed with beautiful sunny weather, and we had a lovely day out.
We arrived to Totnes station where an old fashioned steam train took us to Buckfastleigh, where all the Thomas things were happening!
We saw all the Thomas characters including Duck, Bertie Bus and...of course...Thomas! We got to have a ride on Thomas himself, and we met the Fat Controller and had a sing song with him & Thomas....it was all very cute!
The tickets were £19 for adults but Tyne was free as he's under 2 - so it wasn't cheap but the ticket price included entry to the Otter farm at Buckfastleigh (which we didnt use) and the Rare breeds farm at Totnes....which we did use!
It was a lovely afternoon to stroll around looking at the animals....and I was happy to see the donkeys, I just love them!!!
We had a really lovely day out with Thomas and we're really glad we made the last minute decision to go!
Monday is going to be a little bit hectic, as I'm planning on doing a car boot sale with my sister in the morning and then we're heading to Morrisons to do our #MorrisonsMum shop!
I hope you've all enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend!
We'll have a vlog of our Day Out With Thomas going live on Wednesday on our YouTube Channel - check it out if you haven't already, i'm building my channel at the moment and would love it if you'd subscribe! :)
