Basket Case, #786

I love writing about my son when he graduates and receives a new belt in his karate class.  These are the best posts, because not only am I so proud of him, but he has achieved something that he is proud of, too.  Last night was his graduation, and this was a pretty important one for him for many reasons.

The most important reason was that he received his first solid belt as a “Mighty Kid.”  Up until now, he has been in the “Kid Tiger” class, and all of his belts have had white stripes through them.  My son was very aware of this distinction, and the belt he received last night is so special to him.

Here are a few magic moments from the evening.

Hearing nice words from his teacher….

A strong hammer fist to break his board…

So proud and tough in his new green belt…

There was another thing that made this evening so perfect, too.  My son has a karate belt display in his room.  We gave it to him for Chanukah a couple of years ago.  At each karate graduation, we put his retired belt on the display.  It took two years, but last night, we completed a rainbow of belt colors for his room, and we will need to purchase a new display for his solid belts.  Check it out…

My son has really stuck to his karate classes, and I know he loves having it in his life.  Way to go, little dude!!!  You keep breaking those boards and keeping active.  We couldn’t be more proud and happy for you!

My song of the day had to be by punk rockers, Green Day, of course.  Green belts deserve green music, so click HERE to hear Green Day’s “Basket Case,” one of their bests in my opinion.  Congratulations to my solid green belt boy!  He rocks!
