…be a Doll

Posted on the 08 March 2018 by Zer @the2women

Today, the eighth day of Women’s History Month, the world celebrates International Women’s Day. It’s a day to empower, inspire, and recognize women. Everyone is bending over backwards to show their support of the day (some literally), but it’s going to be hard to top these new Barbie sheroes.

In honor of the day, Mattel released a new line of “Shero” dolls featuring the likes of “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins, conservationist (and “Dancing with the Stars” champion) Bindi Irwin, and Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim. They’re joined by new Inspiring Women, artist Frida Kahlo, NASA mathematician and physicist Katherine Johnson, and Amelia Earhart.

But don’t be distracted by their incredible, awe-inspiring achievements, the real

I’m not saying that girls don’t need to be taught that we all come in different shapes and sizes. I’m saying that this is Barbie, kids, Barbie.

This is something good. Is it perfect? I’ll let you decide, but I don’t think anyone wants to diminish the honor that it is for these women too.

Can't express how totally mind blowing and delightful it is to have your childhood favorite resemble you!! Thank you @Barbie for this incredible honor, and for celebrating all kinds of women, everywhere. What a great way to inspire the girls of tomorrow! Wonderful. pic.twitter.com/bUptVP9Car

I am truly honoured to be part of the @Barbie family, celebrating International Women’s Day. This day encourages us all to reflect on the impact women have had on shaping the world we live in today. This is such a special recognition of women and girls who are making a difference pic.twitter.com/x3dvEHAmWn

#barbie #morerolemodels www.barbie.com/fr-fr/role-models 📷 : @monaawadphotographeparis

We have bigger fish to fry.

Like the fact that these Barbies have elbow and wrist joints…

What is happening!?!

Thank goodness those pants and skirts cover their knees. I cannot handle more appendage breaking points.

But in all seriousness, I hope we can all be inspired by the fierceness of these (and all) women and, even if only for the day, let the smaller things go.

Go forth and conquer.
