Be Healthy & Active with Nestlé

Posted on the 10 July 2016 by Suzanne Robinson @mummy2twinsblog

Do you try and pick healthy foods to eat at home? What about for the kids school lunches? I do and I'm sure everyone else is the same. I do let the kids have a treat every know and then, but these treats are sometimes foods and we don't have them all the time, for example chocolate or a biscuit. (Read on to find out about the giveaway, oh and the comp from Nestlé too!)

However as I have fussy eaters, keeping the lunch box interesting and also for meal times are a HUGE challenge. Not only is it a challenge to think about what to serve the kids that they will actually eat, I also worry if they are getting the vitamins and nutrition that their bodies need.

There are some great recipes on the Nestle Healthy Active Kids website that might help add some interest to dinners and lunches. Have you given them a go? Do your kids love them? I am keen to give them a go.

I do strive to make sure that the kids are eating healthy and I do try to showcase a wide range of foods with the hope that they will eat or at least see hubby and I eat them and therefore it will slowly rub off on the kids.

The lovely people at Nestlé sent me a pack about their Healthy Active Kids program. They have seen my passion about ensuring kids are healthy and are eating right. If kids don't have the right fuel they cannot do well at school. Making sure they have the best start is super important. Plus I'm sure the teachers will be very thankful that they have full bellies so that they can concentrate on their work and learn.

So what was in the pack that the fab foodies at Nestlé sent? Check the list below for the goodies:

  • 2 plates that show you the quantities and what you should be eating. Basically it is showing kids and adults the portion sizes that we need to be healthy.
  • An apron to encourage kids to get cooking.
  • A booklet that shows what makes a healthy lunch box and that gives you ideas for what foods are in season when, plus it also gives tips to be active.

Do you like to send the kids off to school with a healthy packed lunch? What do you like to pack? Mine is a sandwich, some fruit, yoghurt and maybe some vegetables. Let us know what you like to add to your little ones lunches.

Would you like to win a Kitchen Kart that is fully equipped as a mobile teaching kitchen for your child's school? (I know the kids school would love this!) It is valued at $25,000. You also have the opportunity to win $1,000 for yourself as well.

It is all thanks to a partnership with Nestlé Healthy Active Kids and the Australian Institute of Sport. All you need to do is to enter here and tell Nestlé in 100 words or less why it is important to raise nutrition savvy kids.

What do you do as a family to encourage being healthy and active?

We make sure to take the kids on bush walks, bike riding as a family and I always like to park my car away from where we are meant to be. This way I have to walk further and it adds exercise to my day.

Learn about some ways to incorporate more movement and activity to your day.

Do your little ones love to help in the kitchen? Mine do. Research has shown that if kids help to cook their own meals or just give a helping hand they are more likely to make healthier choices.

To encourage your kids to cook and to learn about portion sizes, being healthy and active I'm giving away a Nestlé Healthy Active Kids kit like the one I was sent.
