I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams.
The Tenth Doctor
Fifty years ago today a Time Lord called the Doctor “borrowed” a TARDIS and set off on an adventure through space and time. The rest is history.
This afternoon at approximately 1:50 (CST) millions around the world will gather to celebrate this wonderful journey and watch the 50th anniversary episode as it’s simulcast in more than 75 countries.
While many watch from the comfort of their own home, millions of fans will gather in cinemas broadcasting in 3D, sadly 2WC will not be among them. It’s a long, boring story that involves one theater in Chicago simulcasting and bad timing (slightly ironic, I know). Long story short, I couldn’t get tickets.
Anywho, regardless of where you’re watching from, I think it’s fair to say (because I will be among them) that joyful wheezing will be heard throughout the lands, and it’s kind of a cool thought. It’s no peace conference or Olympic ceremonies, but doesn’t it warm your heart a little?
Don’t worry I won’t try to convert you, I’ve learned that only ends in tears (my own). The journey of Doctor Who is one that you have to choose to make for yourself, but if you’d like some help you could always check out my previously posted guide to the world of Who.
With that, I leave you all to the final hours before the big show. To those into their nth hour in line to get awesome seats—well done, and thanks for stopping by!
Here we go…and because it must be said…Geronimo!
