About 4 years ago I decided to go natural. I stopped getting my hair relaxed and using harsh chemicals to straighten it. However, my hair is extremely thick and curly so I was straightening it almost every other day, so even though i wasn't using chemicals in it, I was damaging it by using so much heat on it. After my son was born I happened to have no time to straighten my hair anymore, so that's when I started my search for the perfect products to make my hair more manageable. I have type 3c curly hair, and if you aren't sure what hair type you have there is a good guide here. I stopped shampooing my hair as often because it dried my hair out and now I usually condition every other day and shampoo every 10 days. My hair has also grown a few inches FINALLY after years and years of it breaking off from damage. My hair is finally healthy and my curls are bouncy and very pronounced thanks to a few of my favorite products:
Creation's Garden Conditioner with Argan Oil from Morocco"Repair and smooth damaged hair with this Argan Oil from Morocco infused conditioner in a non-greasy formula that is instantly absorbed into the hair creating brilliant shine and silky healthy looking hair. Safe for use on color-treated hair and formulated with organic and natural ingredients."
I love this stuff! It smells amazing and my hair is really soft after I use it. It also helps to make my curls extra bouncy. Another bonus is that they only use organic ingredients and don't test on animals so by buying their products you are supporting a cruelty free world ;] I picked it up at TJ Maxx (I get most of my hair products there because they are cheap!) but you can purchase it online also.
Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie"All-natural hair dressing moisturizes hair and imparts a shine and bounce to curls. Nutrient rich vegetable butters condition hair, restoring moisture, body and shine. Enhances curls, minimizes frizz and provides curl control. For thick, curly hair. "This is another great product that only uses organic ingredients! It makes my hair nice and shiny but not greasy looking. I get mine at Target but they sell it in most drugstores and you can always buy it online as well. Bioluxe Miracle Leave - In Serum"Professional collection with provitamin B-5 to smooth, shine, moisturize & strengthen. Bioluxe Miracle Leave-in serum instantly softens and smoothes frizz for a polished look. Formulated with provitamin B-5 and glycerin for extra moisture, body and a healthy shine. Added proteins help strengthen and protect hair against breakage. Special conditioning ingredients help detangle and prevent static for more manageable style. Works with any hair type. Straighten hair. Protect hair's natural proteins. Guard against harmful heat. Hydrate your hair. Add shine & silky hair feel. Restore lost proteins in hair. Detangle & defrizz hair. Salon quality formula. This product is not tested on animals."
Okay, I am totally obsessed with this stuff. It doesn't really smell as good but it really is a miracle product! My main issue with my curly fro is that the top of it doesn't get defined curls like the bottom of my hair and instead it gets really frizzy, but when I use this stuff after I get out of the shower it helps to make my top curls much more defined. It seems like the only place you can buy this stuff is at CVS and there is no company website so I think it might be a CVS brand knock off of the other miracle serum products. Either way it's really great!
Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo
"
Organix Moraccan Aragn Oil Shampoo penetrates into the hair shaft help mend your hair and give it strength and shine. The formula is free of parabens and sulfates and is safe for color-treated hair. It will create a soft, silky look while prtecting your hair against styling heat and UV damage."
I love all of Organix's hair care products but I've been really into argan oil lately because it smells so good. As far as shampoo goes, this product gets the job done. My hair never feels too dried out after using it.
Those are the main products I currently use in my hair. Here are a few more pictures of my hair:
