Before The End Of The World...

2012 is nearing an end and it has been one seriously busy yet amazing year (which is not going to end tomorrow as some people think. I have to say all this rubbish that the world is also on its way out is ridiculous... I mean, seriously!). My gorgeous twins are developing into mischievously cute little toddlers, who though are still not walking, still manage to move around with the speed and stealth of ninjas. They are into everything and have the determination and the keen eyes and instincts of detectives. Seriously, Sherlock and Nancy Drew have nothing on these two.
They are both around the 20lb mark now and are in 9-12 month clothing and though they are still a bit on the small side they have the strength of lions.

River aged 15 months

Indigo aged 15 months

River has finally cut his first tooth (much to the distress of my poor ears) and Indigo now has four (also to the distress of my poor ears). They ate their first ham sandwich a couple of days ago and loved it - they however hated the jam sandwich and I now have sticky little finger prints everywhere...

They have both developed an interest in books... Especially if I am reading one - they have also developed a love of Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom (which at times is a real sanity saviour).
This year has been hard and good and ultimately pretty amazing. From dealing with them falling off of the sofa and a trip to the emergency room, to seeing them stand up for the first time. It has been a year of firsts. The first year or so of mummyhood has felt a bit like boot camp (minus the unflattering cargo pants), and I'm sure there is probably still more training to come. But if anything, what I have learned is this:
Always be ready for anything and if things really get crazy, a hug, a toy or a sweet treat of some kind helps...(Of course that is all for me) - what works with the babies is generally an episode or two of Peppa Pig!

Apologies for not posting as much recently. I have been busy creating and launching my very own nerd site: Nerd Like You. So if you get a chance, why not pop over and take a look. It is a nerdtopia of lifestyle, entertainment, interviews, science, gadgets and cosplay and I have some amazing writers who contribute to make it a very awesome site indeed.
Merry Christmas everyone - I hope that 2013 brings you all the happiness you could wish for.
