I used to be so proud I could slice and dice my way through activities, giving an hour to this two hour activity and an hour to that two hour activity down the street and then dash off to another event… and trust that I could rest when I die.
It reminds me of the need for some people to always have social media on (for company, they say) or television blaring (also for company) or pick arguments or bicker because it gives them permission to raise their voices and therefore, they think, be heard.
Now my philosophy has changed.
I want to do fewer things and the things I elect to do I want to do more deeply.
I don’t want to live life hopping from thing to thing. If I have to look remotely like a hummingbird, I want to sip at the nectar for a good long time. Make that my excuse for not piling on the events and activities.
I am now a fulltime worshipper at the temple Take it Deeply, Easy and with Profound Passion.
On weekends like this one where my calendar is far more full than I would like, I am reminded I need to stay in the Deep, Easy, Profound Passion place even when I am stretched time wise.
It is up to me to stay devoted to depth and passion.
It is up to me to be boldly easy rather than savagely scattered. Please pardon the alliteration, my loves.
I gave myself five minutes to write “something, anything” and this is what I came up with.
I’m pleased. It made me feel better with what is rather than wishing it was anything else.
What can you do today to shift from wishing it was anything else to be content with what is?
No, I do not mean “resigned” to what is, I mean seriously just fine with what is.
Who can you be and what can you do today?
