Being Rich Doesn’t Give You the Right to Be Rude…

It really doesn’t.

Maybe some rich people need to start reading my pion blog. Maybe they would learn something about us little people and how to behave in the real world.

I will never understand how it works that people look down on other people. Expect that they are better and deserve to be treated differently than the rest of us.

We have some customers at work that are rich. I don’t know how rich. Maybe not more money than god, but close.

Everyone knows this.

I totally understand the fact that if you bring lots of money into our business, you are going to expect to get treated well, but you know what? Even when you come into our store and spend $2, I am going to treat you with the same respect that I will treat the customer that comes in and spends $4000, because in the end…the little guy is going to come in more…they are going to appreciate the fact that they were treated like royalty even when they did only spend $2, the same as they are going to get treated if they spend a couple of hundred, or thousands. The people that don’t have any money, understand this. They come back because of it and keep us going all year round.

I am not saying that all the rich people treat us badly, or even that they don’t appreciate us at all. They wouldn’t come back if they didn’t right? I just find that the level of respect is lopsided. They expect it, but don’t return it.

Respect is earned, not bought.

I don’t care who you are or how much money you have.

Try going to Canadian Tire, or Home Depot and getting anywhere near the service you get if you come to see us. It won’t happen. You get nothing, no matter how rich or important you are.

We have people call us all the time asking questions about stuff they have bought somewhere else. It is really hard to be pleasant. Finally after all these years, I have an answer. I try and help people the best I can, but I always make sure I say, if you had bought it here, we would have told you that when you bought it.

You might pay a little more from us, but your success rate will be way higher if you buy from us instead. Quality wise and service wise. People just don’t understand that.

You also won’t go home with trees that the deer will eat 4 feet up. Lucky for you, you saved $10 a tree huh?

It is pretty obvious at this point that I am on day 4 of 6 in a row. I am amazed how my bosses don’t start killing people at this time of year, they work 6 and 7 days a week all of the time. It takes a special kind of person to run a business like this and not end up in the looney bin mid June, I kid you not.

Not that there aren’t days when each and every one of us aren’t spread pretty thin. This week we have all had moments.

My front porch/Pretty Much Picasso Petunia

I drink when I get home…heeheheh, ok…not a lot, but I am telling you, my Vodka and Tonic was pretty much thoroughly enjoyed tonight.

Amusingly enough, when I came home tonight I planted a hanging basket and my basil. It brought me down from the day, made me regroup and relax.

Phantom Petunia

I have too many hanging baskets this year. Last year I did a Pretty Much Picasso Petunia. It was absolutely amazing, this year I planted one again. That was BEFORE we got the Phantom Petunia in…I saw this last year in real life, but we didn’t have it in our store, it is absolutely stunning when it grows up. I had to have one. We got them today. It is in it’s hanging basket as we speak waiting for the sun and heat so I can put it outside and let it grow up to it’s full potential. I don’t really have room for two of them, but I will find a place for this beauty to live.

I have a spot down on the back porch where I can put it, I will do one less tumbler tomato hanging basket is all. I have my black cherry tomato planted already. I got so many tomatoes off of that last year, I won’t really need another cherry tomato. I also had a salad with lettuce out of my garden tonight, I planted a Mustard mix lettuce. Oh my god. Delicious!! I love that I am eating veggies out of the garden already. My potatoes are finally poking through too, took forever but I see life!!

So in closing…I feel better after venting, thank you for listening…and if you are a rich person…be NICE to people ok? You aren’t any better than us not as rich as you folks, in fact most days I think we have more than you do. Maybe not materially but how we live life, how we get along with people, how we treat others…maybe we are the rich ones and you are poor.

Maybe money isn’t everything. Maybe it isn’t really anything at all. If you haven’t got compassion, and love…money doesn’t mean a thing does it?
