I have found when they play outside, they don't seem to get as bored easily, they squabble less and just get lost in their own little worlds of play. There are so many benefits to outdoor play, it allows them to explore their environment, develop muscle strength and coordination and gain self-confidence and of course something I'm incredibly passionate about is that it promotes healthy well-being.
Giving children the freedom of playing outdoor helps them to feel happier and calmer. Being outside means that children naturally get vitamin D, which is proven to help improve moods and create a positive mental attitude. The freedom outdoor play also encourages children to get rid of built up energy, particularly if they tend to be fidgety when sitting for long periods of time, this leads to them becoming calmer and ultimately helps them to be more focused when in the classroom. Children need the freedom to be able to explore, problem solve and play on their own and I've found that by simply setting up activities or leaving a few toys out help them on their way to doing these things independently. I love nothing more than to sit at my back door and watch my two play and kind of feel it's good for mom too!
If you're are lucky enough to have a large garden you could even create a dedicated safe playing area, having a great playground design that suits the needs of your children and budget would enable hours of fun with peace of mind that they are safe. Darcie loves a climbing frame, and some kind of play house - they both adore slides so would be high on their wish list!
I have a dedicated Pinterest Board to child-friendly garden's if you're wanting some inspiration for your own garden play spaces. Enjoy!
