B*gger Magic

Don't forget to head down to Café Number 5 at 6pm for some Magical poetical fun and japes at our open mic night tonight.  I'll be there, albeit a little late and with a non magic related poem (sorry folks) so save me a spot!  Also, tonight sees the release of the long awaited sequel to Mathamagical, Anagramaphobia by our very own Colin Davies.  Bring some money and grab a copy.
Now on with the Scroogey post!
I hate magic acts.  I really do.  Some wise guy spends days and hours in his room playing with animals and kids toys and we pay to see the result.  Anyone doing that and not putting on a show would get locked up.  I wish they'd lock up the frigging magicians as well.
I asked mom what to write on the theme of magic last night.  The conversation - one sided as all mother led conversations are - went like this.
Me:  I have no idea what I'm going to write about this weeks theme Mum.  Everyone's going to be all clever and eclectic and I've about as much inspiration as an empty pot of white paint."
Mum:     Magic.  Hmm Magic?  When the telly comes on and there's one of them guys on like on Britain's Got Talent" all you think is bloody hell, magic?  And when they come on all you're trying to do is figure out how they con you and who's gonna get cut in half - I mean what idiot applies for that job anyway?
Mum:     I'm thinking magic.  It's just such a bum one to do.  Who likes magic anymore, it's not as if it's real!"
(I started playing mom a track by Elbow that I thought she'd like.)
Mum:     That music isn't going to help you with magic.  (STARTS SINGING)  You can do magic, magic, magic.......
Mum:     Oh you're on a loser tonight!
So I gave up.  Here is a link to one of the only magic acts I've ever liked - watch it through to the end though!  CLICK ME HERE!!
Oh and here is the song my mom was singing if you're not old enough for it to have been around or Motown passed you by...

See you tonight!
