The other morning, as I was laying in bed…perusing my favorite blogs, I came across this article…
BLOGGER BEWARE: You can get sued for using photos that aren’t yours on your blog.
And I was like…holy shit.
I have over 500 posts on this blog. Way over that on my other blog, which is no longer in use. I have just set that blog to private so nothing is visible. I just couldn’t make myself delete over 500 posts.
So this morning, other than a few gifs, I deleted any pictures that weren’t mine.
I have always, always linked to whomever’s picture I have used as well as giving them full credit. Apparently that is not enough. I get that, I really do. It would piss me off fiercely if someone was using my pictures as their own without giving me credit.
It takes a lot of work to put up a photo blog, there is always editing to do, as well as adding your name to said picture. Some people don’t give a shit, and will just crop it to take your name off. I realize that you are chancing that when you post photos. I know people are thieves and will try to take credit for something they really didn’t do.
I also know that the majority of people aren’t like that at all.
I also don’t have any money, so the last thing I need is to get sued for an innocent mistake, or by Christy Clark or Lance Armstrong because I have their pictures on my blog, for whatever reason.
So…just so you know, if you go back to my older posts, and there are no pictures to liven things up a wee bit, that is why.
I am covering my ass.
I will be more diligent with finding pictures on my own and taking them. I will be triple sure that a picture I use otherwise is a legal borrow.
It will make me use my photography imagination more, which is good. Right?
And don’t steal my shit. Because I will find you…and you will pay.
Got it?
Nice.
Have a great non thieving, happy blog posting day everyone :)
