All times CST.
First of all, yawn.
7:36. This student loan expungement nonsense infuriates me. It cost me more than $72-thousand semolians and I spent more than ten-years paying it off (with interest,
mind you) to cover cost of getting my BA in Broadcast Journalism along with a minor in history. Wanna know how I did that? Hard work, no vacations, minimal fun time, living paycheck to paycheck, living with garnished IRS refunds for those ten years on top of making payments every month. Entitled? Please. According to my mother that would ONLY be a reality if some guy would add an Mrs. to my name.
Where are my academic war reparations???? Where are yours?
Mrs. Warren, I know a lot of people who’s lives have been crushed by student loan debt. If this goes through, it needs to be retroactive for the past 50-years.
7:45. Biden is more aware of who he is and where he is tonight. And man, who dosed Bloomberg’s coffee with crank? He seems far more alive this go round. Maybe one his handlers had him apply a buzzer to a particularly sensitive area on are near his tender net hers and he/she pushes a button when he starts to amble on and on and on and on.
7:54 How did Tom Steyer get on the stage?
8:01 Whoa! Never before have I noticed that Biden has an extremely large, oblong shaped forehead. Bloomberg should rent it as space for more of his campaign ads. Or if Biden loses, he could always make a few extra bucks by becoming a mobile IMAX screen.
8:07 I was in NYC in late November. It’s riddled with homeless encampments along the sidewalk perimeters of Central Park, as well as other places within the city. Soft drinks and soft drink ads for plastic bottles and fountain drinks in sizes from small to water tower, are everywhere. It was a city of sweat hogs, too.
And not only that Mayor Bloomberg, your plastic ban is BS. Everywhere we went and we spent several days in both midtown and downtown, we were served drinks with plastic straws. Clueless.
8:19 I agree with Bloomberg. Bring most of the troops home, but keep some special forces in places where the sources of terrorism are most prevalent. Independent factions can plot and plan anywhere, but they become radicalized by leaders ten thousand miles away. They’re being used to do these leaders’ bidding. Martyrdom simply can’t be all that it’s cracked up to be.
8:22 Gayle Oprah King just called Biden “President Biden”. Interesting.
8:27 More people are cheering for Bloomberg, while Bernie is getting less applause and more boos than ever before. It’s kinda like the latest wings commercial: You like Bernie? U dirty.
This cat is scary. And I would feel that way if I were a multi-millionaire or a 30-thousandaire. He’s too encroaching.
8:34 Bernie, Bernie, Bernie. Your recent comment about Castro and the tyrant that he was also did some good things during his reign. Namely, implementing a literacy program. Bernie, I think you’re confusing education with indoctrination. Within the hour, I’ll send you “the peoples’ shovel” and you can continue to dig your own hole between now and Super Tuesday.
8:41 To all the self-hating Jews on stage. If Palestinians lob missiles (or rocks in Gaza) all aimed at Tel Aviv or in its general election, is Israel not allowed to defend itself? It’s citizens?
Israel can’t be condemned because it’s a democracy, ambitious and maintains an ethical compass. The Palestinians simply must realize they’re doing nothing to make their situation any better. Yes, the Palestinians deserve a dedicated homeland, but that will only happen unless they stop trying to make futile power plays. Israel will beat you every time. The Palestinians must stop the fighting and better organize themselves and in doing so, it would legitimize itself.
But more to the point…both countries claim to be established by religions of peace.
Really? Prove it.
8:55 Why are there campaign ads running during a debate? I just saw a Bloomberg ad that featured nothing but women who are or were in his employ. Smooth move considering the backlash he’s received about women, harassment complaints and all the non-disclosure agreements. Kudos to the PR wizards who came up with that one.
9:01 Tom Steyer has been largely ignored in this debate and when he spoke, it was only a regurgitation of all his campaign commercials. He’s spent this evening proving his irrelevancy.
May I be honest? If Mother Nature made it possible for men to conceive and bear children, he looks like an odd by-product between a one night stand involving FOX News’ Steve Doocy and Ryan Stiles of Who’s Line Is It Anyway fame.
9:06. The curtain has closed and so ends the Dem’s debate in South Carolina.
So….who won? I’m no expert. Political Science and Civics classes lulled me to sleep, so I can only opine. But if I had declare a winner, the person who I think, spoke calmly, rationally with less frothing, spitting and yelling into the microphone and forcing over modulation—
It was Mayor Pete B. But his victory was narrow. He was just the best of the worst.
All of them pandered way above their pay grades. I could have lived without the intentional race baiting and Biden’s hyperbole. One hundred fifty million people killed by gun violence since 2007?
If I break it down, Bernie was too frenetic.
Bloomberg while more astute, was too defensive.
Warren grabbed a cutlass and felt more comfortable shredding her fellow presidential contenders to pieces. That seems to be a thing with her. She would have gained more points had she better expressed and defended her own policies.
Klobachar mentioned nothing worth remembering,
Biden tried to connect by attempting humor. It was a failure. Plus, he got stuck in the past. He talked mostly about achievements as a Vice President, a lawyer and Catholic school boy. Funny, he always seemed more Episcopalian to me..
Steyner mentioned banks a few times. At least, I think he did. Sorry, Tommy ol’ chap, I took most of my potty breaks whenever you opened your mouth. But hey, it wasn’t a total debate abortion for ya. At least you and my bladder are in sync. But it’s too bad that my bladder is A) still a member of the Whig party and B) can’t vote.
