Blogging: The Only Advice You'll Ever Need

If you're a fellow blogger (hi) or an aspiring blogger (hi) then this one's for you..

We've all seen the posts out there offering us bloggers blogging advice - the tips and tricks.. I've even written a few myself wanting to share some of my knowledge and experience when it comes to the wonderful world of blogging. These sorts of posts are often extremely helpful and I love reading them, but I think that when it comes to sharing anymore of my own tips, I think there really is only five key bits of advice that to be a successful blogger you'll really ever need to know..

1. Don't force blogging

Forced blogging (blogging because you feel you have to) sucks. Waiting for the right moment is key. The moment when seemingly out of no-where your head suddenly gets full of things that you want to say. Things you want to try and put into words. That right there, is the very best time to blog.

2. Don't compare your beginning to someone elses middle.

It doesn't matter what others are doing. It matters what YOU are doing. Everything in life is easier when you don't concern yourself with what everybody else is doing. I'm a big fan of the following quote myself.. "How to be successful: Focus on your own sh*t.".

3.  Don't not ask.

Want to know something? Want to ask someone for some advice? Want to collaborate with a brand you love? If you don't ask, the answer will always be no. So ask! You have nothing to lose. And trust that when the answer is no, there will always a better yes down the road.

4. Don't worry about what others think.

People are just people they shouldn't make you nervous. There's no need to be perfect to inspire others, let people get inspired by how your deal with your imperfections and know that once you've accepted your flaws no-one can use them against you.

5. Don't be busy, just be productive.

In reality successful blogging is time consuming, so you'll need passion and lots of it. It's easy to get caught up on social media, on emails, on pitches, on other blogs and to a degree that's fine, it's part and parcel of blogging, but always bring yourself back to the core. Blogging is always going to firstly and foremostly be about writing blog posts. So always try and stay focused. :)
Blogging is primarily about sharing a piece of you. Whether that be your life or your passions. And so with that in mind, the best piece of advice I think that I could ever share is to always stay true to yourself.
