Blossom, #631

There is a miracle happening right before my eyes, and I am baffled and don’t really know what to make of it.  For 8 years, I have lived in my house, and outside my back door is a little orange tree.  When we first moved into the house, construction workers poured their cement water all around the tree.  The ground became hard as a result, and the poor little tree suffered.  It has never produced any fruit and cold freezing weather during the desert winter seasons has just about destroyed it.

Well, yesterday, I opened that back door to let our dog out, and I happened to glance at the tree.  There were flowers everywhere!  Aromatic pretty little buds were covering the tree, and it’s as if the tree were saying, “Look!  I’m happy now!”

I am in awe of this miracle.  Does this mean that our little tree might actually produce an orange or two?  How could 8 years of nothingness lead us to this?  I guess it only goes to prove that anything can happen.  You should never give up hope, because life as you know it could change in instant…for better of for worse.

I love my little flowering orange tree, and so my song of the day is my favorite James Taylor song of all time.  The first time I ever heard “Blossom” was at summer camp when I was a kid, and this song has always had a soft spot in my heart.  It is perfect for my sweet-smelling tree and all of its beautiful blossoms, so click HERE to hear the just as beautiful melody.

As I think about this tree, I am smiling from ear to ear.  It’s greeting as I open that back door is as lovely as you can get.  What a truly special blessing!
