I spent my second day of the year changing my hairstyle. I spent it mostly on figuring out how or where should I do it. Under the scorching heat of the sun, I traveled across the vast streets of Osmena Blvd. to Colon and I was mostly alone.

The first salon I bump into was the Fe and Nicole salon. I was with my younger sister that time since she also wanted to have her hair done. I showed one of their staff a reference picture of how I wanted my hair done. They priced it on an affordable cost of Php 1,500 only. That includes everything already. I was expecting it to be a bit higher. They then let me picked a color of my choice which was bluegreen. All they have were separate colors of blue and green. I thought that why not mix them? They said it was okay. I waited. Then after almost 20 minutes, they said that it turns out they only had blue and none of the green available. Oh well, I've thought why not go for blue? I texted my boyfriend and asked his opinion. And I realized that I should not do it if I'll end up regretting it. I was planning to have my hair be bluegreen in the first place, so maybe I should stick to that plan. I decided to exit the salon and left my sister there. She can handle herself, she's almost 19.
So from there, what now? I went to the salon where I first got my hair done, almost exactly last year. It was in the D'Beauty Wonderland salon. I called them the day before and told them about the hairstyle that I wanted and inquired about the cost. She said that it'll worth more or less Php 2,000. But she said that it was still a tentative cost since she will be inspecting my hair first before anything else. So yeah, Php 2,000? Maybe I should try it out. I went there and showed them the photo reference of the hairstyle. She then inspected my hair. I was astonished when she said that she will be bleaching my hair 3x. Maybe she thought I'm stupid enough to fall for that. Why would she even do that? The hair color that I showed her wasn't even that bright. A single bleach would be enough. She discussed some matters about my hair and how should it be done properly. Of course, I don't want my hair to get bleached 3 times. It would probably look like as dead as Michael Jackson if I let that happen. She told me that she also didn't want that and told me to just pick another hair color in Pinterest. So I connected to their WiFi and did what she told me. But I really wanted the bluegreen but still I looked for an alternative as what she said. I guess it was around 15-20 minutes after I finished picking other hair colors but she never approached me again. Ever! She just took glimpses of me that looked away. One of their staffs even told me that it would cost Php 5,000 all in all. Woah! A couple of minutes after hearing that, I immediately left the place. What a waste of time.
Ram and I met and had lunch together. After which, we then continued the journey and that time, we went to Colon. We know there were lots of affordable salons there. We first went to another branch of Fe and Nicole but again, they don't have the bluegreen color. We found another salon nearby and just went inside immediately (we were running out of time). It was Patrice salon. I showed them the picture and let me wait. A lot of waiting game happened during that time. After an hour, they finally started with my hair. And didn't I mention that I went for the blue color? Yes. They ran out of green as well so they can't have a bluegreen. I thought about it and maybe just go for it. Anyway, the color would just go off eventually and maybe that time I could color it to bluegreen..and I was already out of time...and energy. Screw it! Blue looks good, too!
Since it's an ombre hairstyle, it took 3-steps to achieve it. First, my hairdresser dyed the top of my hair black. Second, she bleached the ends of my hair (just once!) And third, she applied the blue dye on the bleached ends. Each step took me around 1 to 1 and a half hour to complete. I learned that when you want a bright or non-natural color for your hair such as bluegreen, it is really advisable to bleach your hair so that the color would be visible. Colors applied to bleached hair would eventually fade away, though.
So the question is, why does my hair color look like bluegreen when the hair dye applied to it was blue? Here's the twist! I was really not expecting the results. It turned out to be bluegreen. After thinking, I thought that maybe it was because my bleached hair was light orange to yellow in color and when the blue dye was applied, it resulted to a color mix! Like what? Haha! I was really happy with it. I never thought I'd go home with this hair color after how my day went and how much time was consumed. I only a total amount of Php 2,000, that includes the whole hairdo plus the iCure after-treatment conditioner that I bought which is really a big help in repairing and conditioning my bleached ends. Bleaching the hair destroys it, especially if you do it more often. In my case, it's only my first time.
I would like to thank Patrice salon, my hairdresser Abby and the other higher staff with the super long hair (I forget her name) who accommodated me during the whole process.
The hair color in these photos aren't really evident because of the filter I used. The color is much visible during the day especially when exposed to sunlight. The upper part of my hair isn't really that black since the dye was only applied once and my hair was naturally dark brown and not purely in black (like super duper black! haha)
The color would last 2 weeks to a month. The bleached ends will eventually turn into light orange to yellow color again. Currently, my hair is now on the green-ish phase. The blue shade isn't that visible anymore. Some of my workmates are even teasing me that my hair looks like seaweed now. Maybe they were just joking but I still like it. It just shows that we have different sense of style. And as a fashion blogger, I'm prolly sure that mine are better, in my own way.
Maybe I'll paint the ends gray once the color totally fades.
