Everything Is Yours is the third and final installment in the "Life Is Yours" trilogy, written by mindfulness practitioner and Geordie lass Abigail Yardimci.
The trilogy is somewhat of an unusual one, as unlike most other "chick lit" books I've read over the years (and believe me, there have been hundreds!) - this one is actually semi-auto biographical.
The author herself lived out most of the experiences she writes about in the books - from finding herself suddenly single after thinking she was settled for life in her long-term relationship and having to pick up the pieces of her life to start afresh, to finding herself on a life-changing holiday to Turkey where she found not only her true love but also found herself along the way.
Although there are fictional characters and experiences added into the story, it gives an interesting twist to know that the book is so personal to the writer. You can feel the passion woven into her words as you read, and at times it feels less like reading a book and more like listening to an old friend telling you her story...which is funny, as this is exactly how the book is designed - with the main character telling her story to a new acquaintance. A unique way to tell a story, and one that I found very easy to read and enjoy.
In Everything Is Yours the story of Jess is far from over, and there are plenty of twists along the way to keep us in suspense...and just like the books that came before it, it packs a soulful punch. It's the sort of book that leaves you feeling richer for having read it, taking away new thoughts and musings on life - the very best kind of book if you ask me!
Abi is a gifted writer whose words are powerful and evocative - never too flowery but landing just on the right side of descriptive and poetic. The book is easy to read, and although it stands up well as a stand alone book it is best read as part of the trilogy.
