Brady's Birthday Celebration

Brady's birthday was a real treat for us this year, because he got to be home! It has been a few years since we have experienced that little blessing. It may seem silly to some people, but birthdays are a big deal in our house, and we were very happy to celebrate with him in person on his special day. Calling someone on their birthday just isn't the same, and being alone on your birthday is not fun, either. He always insists on a homemade German Chocolate cake. Last year, we bought one, hoping to persuade him that store bought cakes are just as good, but he didn't like it. So I baked him one at home. Easy peasy to do, thanks to Betty Crocker! The kids made him really nice cards, which you can see below. They worked on these late on a school night, after practices, homework and a very long day.
Their cards were seriously sweet! And so representative of each of their relationships with Brady. Treasured items I will save forever.
On Saturday, we went to Texas Roadhouse for lunch, and it was seriously TO DIE FOR! It is our new favorite place to eat for special occasions. Brady couldn't even eat all of his food! We managed to get some fun selfies to commemorate the special lunch. Let me tell you, that's a trick, with Brady involved. He just can't seem to remain focused on the camera for as long as we need him to in order to get a good picture. Funny story, his mom sent a picture of him with his family when Brady was about twelve or so, and wouldn't you know, he is looking off in that picture, too! The kids and I got a big laugh out of that. We are getting him trained, but it isn't easy - we do our best.
