Breaking Barriers For The Elderly
Did you know that by the year 2050, 15.6 % of the UK population will be made up of people aged 65 and over?
Thanks to advances in healthcare and improved standards of living, people are living for longer than before - but with that being the case, why is it that society so often dismisses the elderly as incapable of learning new skills and contributing to society?
Bathing Solutions are challenging us with their #BreakingBarriers campaign to make a change, end the stigma and encourage people, regardless of their age, to learn a new skill.
Bathing Solutions are a company specialising in providing mobility bathrooms with easy-access showers and baths, to give those with mobility problems more comfort and ease in life.
And now they are also sharing tips and tricks on all manner of skills from learning a new language, how to read faster to even starting a blog!
There's also a lot of information available on local community courses, too.
You only need to take a look at some of the most famous household names to understand that you're never too old to turn your hand to something...
Did you know that Colonel Sanders didn't start his KFC business until he was 65?
or that actress Estelle Getty didn't find fame until she turned 63?
It really is never too late to find a new hobby, learn a new skill or find a new way to enjoy life - and if there's an older loved one in your life that you think would benefit from trying something new, why not give them a little encouragement? Maybe your Granny would love to start her own blog, or your Grandad would be interested in taking on a photography course?
It's never too late to find a new passion in life.
