Have you ever told a little white lie in an effort to make yourself seem more cultured?
I know that I have! I remember back in my early 20s, listening to a group of college friends discussing Quentin Tarantino movies in detail...arguing back and forth about which was their favourite, when they suddenly asked for my opinion...the honest answer would have been "I've never seen one, I like rom coms!" but I just couldn't bring myself to say it, so instead I mumbled something about Pulp Fiction and hoped that nobody would ask me to elaborate!
It seems I'm not alone in my little white lie, as a recent survey has shown that more than 1 in 10 Brits has claimed to have watched a film they've never seen, read a book they haven't or eaten food that they actually dislike in an effort to appear more cultured.
Take a look at the infographic below to see some more results from the survey:
Pretty interesting, right?
I can't say that I've ever been tempted to tell fibs about countries I've visited, but I do very much agree that cruises can be incredibly culturally rewarding.
My family and I are huge cruise fans, infact our next cruise is booked for September and in the 14 nights that we're on board we'll be visiting 8 cities in 6 different countries!I have been looking into booking a Caribbean cruise for next year too...one of the things I love most about cruising is the fact that you don't have to pick just one country to visit on your holiday - instead you get to take in lots of different countries all on one trip giving you the chance to take in a variety of cultures, cuisines, sights and experiences all from the comfort of a modern and luxurious cruise ship. What could be better than that?
So tell me, have you ever told a fib to make yourself more cultured?
