I feel like Ethan has been much more enthusiastic towards his little brother this month. Naturally, Ethan can sometimes be a bit stand-offish with Logan. It's a natural thing, Logan has our attention 50% of the time now and Ethan's having to learn how to share.
But he's been great and whilst there have been times where I've felt incredibly guilty that I can't play because Logan needs milk or cuddle, Ethan's adapted and has never held a grudge. He understands that Mummy and Daddy now have two babies that we love the same. He sees that despite us having our attention split, we love him just as much as we always have.
He's starting to see that there may well be other benefits to having a sibling.. Logan's interested in Ethan and in Ethan's toys. Ethan sees this and knows that Logan has the ability and the want to play. It won't be long until Logan is sitting up and I feel that this is when Ethan will start to fully appreciate that his brother is someone he can play with.
Like most elder siblings, it's likely that Ethan will always be in charge when it comes to play, well for now at least, and that's okay. I think Logan will want his brother to lead the way and for him to show him how it's all done.
It's been five months now since Logan came into our lives and I'm so pleased with how well Ethan has accepted his baby brother in to our lives. There's little things that Ethan does everyday that lets me know that he loves and cares for his little brother and that he almost feels like he's always been around.
