Brunette to Blonde. Blonde to Brunette.

Posted on the 26 July 2013 by Alex_bumptobaby @bumptobaby_blog

I'm going through a 20-something-new-mum hair crisis. I have finally fallen out of love with being a blonde. I'm sick to death of the same hair style which by the way I've sported for the last 24, nearly 25 years of my life. That is, the whole of my life. I call it a 'style', but it isn't a style, more like this is the way my hair grows so this is the way I look style. Though, I did make the effort of growing my fringe out at least, at the time my Mum told me I looked like someone from the television called 'Olive' from a show called 'On The Buses', a quick Google left me dis-heartened so thanks for that Mum! Not really sure that was the look I was going for.
So yes, blonde. It was an accident. A result of many years of getting my hair highlighted. I do like it, a lot, but it's just very hard to maintain because of those dreaded roots. Which by the way, somehow seem to appear quicker than I can actually say the word 'ROOTS'. And lately these roots, the now wishy-washy blonde ends, they've got to me and I want a change. I want a style and a new color. Something different, something a little bit more 'grown-up' even.
Brunette to Blonde. Blonde to Brunette.
And so I've been brave - I've booked the hairdresser. I'm booked in for a cut involving some short, yes short, (not too short mind) layers AND a complete new colour! My WHOLE hair is going to be dyed brown, to be more precise - a chestnut brown (whatever that will look like). Though I'm still opting to have some blond-ish highlights on top of it. I say I've been brave and I have been, but I'm feeling scared and very un-sure, I find myself repeatedly stopping my fingers reaching over for my phone ready to send a 'I gotta cancel' text. I'll probably hate it and I'll probably look even more (if it's possible) paler than I look currently, but I'm going with the 'I wont know unless I try' quote and I'm sticking with it (for now). I shall let you know how it all goes sometime after D-day '3rd August'. God, I hope I like it.
