Summer started off a bit early again for me after our Northern exploits in Ilocos and Clark last month, we were able to discover the most pristine beach in Batangas. Last Saturday, a cousin of ours was able to snag a brand new Hyundai Accent Blue as a graduation gift from his parents. A very lucky lad. And with a new car, a better way to test drive it is by means of a road trip.  After the sumptuous meal  in Gilligan’s, I proposed a plan to go to somewhere in Batangas to spend some time in the beach, specifically in Calatagan. There wasn’t any concrete  plan on where we’re going after some hefty discussions, but I suggested we search for the Burot beach. Fortunately I managed to convince the rest of the gang to partake in this epic road trip the next day.
Sunday DrivingIt was a bit cloudy when we drove to Tagaytay and we eventually just let our windows down to enjoy the cool breeze.  We made some stops in Matabungkay in Lian because some of our companions (mostly our grandparents) were complaining of the long travel time. In the end youth prevail as  the celebrant wasn’t amused with Matabungkay.  And off  we go to Calatagan.

The fine, white sand  of Burot beach

A cure for the itch
It all started with  when I  stumbled upon Burot beach on a blog post of Paolo Nacpil on my tumblr account. I’ve been actually planning to go here in the past but it always seems to be cancelled, I guess we sort of winged it this time around. Burot is an undeveloped stretch of white sand that gently slopes into warm, crystalline water. And true enough we were treated to a very pleasant stay in this secluded beach.

The beach is not that long compare to that of Laiya or Munting Buhangin  in Nasugbu but the stretch of groomed white sand  and cool blue waters was a captivating sight.  Facing the beach, on the left side is a small cliff encroached with vegetation and few rock formations that serve as a sanctuary for small fish.  Make sure you climb this part because you’ll be rewarded with another narrow beach  hidden in the back of the cliff.

A beach hidden at the back of the cliff

On the right side of the beach is a sort of rocky pathway which also attracts small fishes and crabs. A usual beach is adorned with palm trees, in Burot short broad trees lined the beach offering shade to those whose in need of break after basking in the sun.

A walk along the beach is necessary

The water is generally quite calm and shallow the whole day, making it  an ideal beach for families with small children.  Another thing I love about Burot is that you can have all the beach  pretty much on your own the whole day.

Ideal beach for kids

As of today there are no accommodations yet in this beach so better bring a tent. There are makeshift houses but mostly use for bathroom. It’s decent enough but it’s a little dark because there are no electricity yet. So there goes my little information about Burot Beach, I’ll be posting more comprehensive details (guide, direction, things to do etc) on my next post.
