My first campus…the U of A! Go cats!
I keep writing about being back in school again after 20 some years away from it, because it’s such a very big deal! Well, I made it through my first day unscathed, and in fact, I can happily say that my first experiences with the whole school thing was actually enjoyable. A friend who has already been through this program before described online learning like Facebook, and that is a completely accurate description.
I participated in an online discussion, and Facebook is exactly what it felt like. We even uploaded photos! I never thought that I’d get to know classmates clear across the country, but already a day into classes, I can see that I will know my fellow students well by the end of the semester. In one of my classes, I even have to call or Skype a fellow classmate to interview her and introduce her to the rest of the class before next week comes along. It is such a wise process!
My song of the day is called “Campus” by Vampire Weekend. I love this song, because it paints the picture of the college campus experience I knew in my 20’s. I can’t help to think about that time in my life a lot lately with this new endeavor before me. College is great. It gave me friends to last a lifetime and knowledge that I have carried with me and used in my career. I can only imagine the same will be true of this Master’s program. What a lovely thought.
