Castle Hill Estate Weddings: Couples Wedding Portraits

Posted on the 08 June 2016 by Belinda Mccarthy @b_mccarthyphoto

Photographing the bride and groom's wedding portraits is an integral part of all wedding day photography, and each wedding day brings its own style, its own sense of place, and most importantly, its own approach in order to reflect the bride and groom's personal style, their wishes, and their unique relationship with each other. Photographing wedding portraits isn't just about posing the bride and groom in a pretty location, far from it; it's much more about having the space and opportunity to capture the very special relationship which has just been cemented into marriage, and translating this into images which the couple will look back on and remember their thoughts and feelings as those shots were taken. Of course, when you have such absolutely STUNNING backdrops as those offered at the epic Castle Hill Estate in Devon, as photographer you have another responsibility, too - to do justice to the truly beautiful location!

These bride and groom wedding portraits are some of my favourite shots from this lovely Castle Hill Estate wedding in North Devon, near Barnstaple. These were shot in the early evening after the wedding breakfast, and often, this is the best time of day in summer to plan for your couples portraits. The reason? Because not only are you more relaxed, as the stress and pressure of the day is now behind you, but also, early evening light in summertime is softer and more beautiful than the hard overhead light from earlier in the day. Just make sure you have time to plan a refresh of your hair and makeup, so you feel picture ready!

I do hope you like these wedding portraits from this lovely Castle Hill Estate wedding. Even if you're not planning to get married, the gardens at Castle Hill are absolutely epically beautiful, and well worth a visit if you're in the area!
