The original plan was to visit Ditumabo Falls, but due to time constraint we settled for the Caunayan Falls. From Bay’s Inn we drive to Barangay Pimentel in San Luis, a town close to Baler. As expected the road going to Caunayan wasn’t paved and mostly rough road. Our tour guide/driver informed us that the road leading to the falls is a privately own property and we are required to pay 20 pesos per vehicle. A separate payment is again collected before entering the falls itself.
From the entrance, you’ll be greeted with some cottages where you can put your belongings. It’s not actually disappointing but I’m not impressed with the waterfalls mainly because of its height. But then the scorching heat at that time made me appreciate it’s clear cool water flowing in stream. The water is not that high so we just literally planted our feet to cool down. The lush green surrounding is also fantastic. Snapping pictures here and there we didn’t resist to stand under the refreshing cascade of the falls.
Getting There:
Situated in Barangay Pimentel, San Luis, Caunayan or El Pimentel Falls is one of the most visited falls in Baler. You can get there by hiring a jeep, taking a tricycle or bringing your own private vehicle from the town proper to Barangay Real in San Luis.
