Disclosure: I will be covering this event on April 28th.

Queen’s Day takes place on April 28th, 2013 this year.  What is Queen’s Day?

Queen’s Day is a traditional holiday in the Netherlands that honors and celebrates their Queen Beatrix.  This year marks the final reign of Queen Beatrix as she will abdicate reign to her son William-Alexander and his wife Princess Maxima.  They will begin their reign on April 30th.

So, this Queen’s Day is even more special as it’s the last year to celebrate and honor Queen Beatrix’ reign.

This event held at the Home Depot Center will teach children about the heritage and culture of the Netherlands.  There will be look a likes of Queen Beatrix and son William-Alexander to take pictures with, live music, a flea market, traditional dutch games, a bouncy house and more.

Children and adults are invited to come dress as a princess(prince) or Queen.  The Dutch national color is Orange.  So dress up in your best orange for a shot to win the Miss Orange pageant.  Anyone 12 or older can enter the contest.

Tickets for this family-friendly event can be purchased at dutchqueensday.eventbrite.com. Tickets are currently on sale for just $10 per person (kids 12 and under are free).  If you’re looking for pictures and a program of the day, please visit www.dutch-day.com and like their Facebook page to follow the latest news of the event.

Now one of my lucky readers has the chance to win a FAMILY Day ticket to the event on April 28th.
