Celebrating Christmas 2012

Another Planet Joy reminder

Well hello, you fabulous Planetarians, all 569 of you. Goodness, I've missed this space! I can't thank you enough for your kindness after my last post. Your comments, emails, phone calls, text messages, cards, parcels, loads of groceries, cheques and gift-cards have absolutely floored me. And left me dumbstruck - I have dozens of unanswered emails piled up, waiting for me to find the right words. How can I adequately thank people, including strangers, who responded to kind Janelle's post here by sending us gifts to ensure we could give the pixies a wonderful Christmas? Hmm, that's tomorrow's task - writing my thankyou notes to wrap up 2012!  Now, time to catch up on how we've celebrated Christmas on Planet Baby.  The wreath I had fun making our wreath from coffee filter papers and an old cardboard nappy box. Lots of hot glue later and this was the ruffly result. *Sigh*. The window Like last year, I hung Iris's paper star in our bedroom window.
The mantelpiece I was so happy to find these sweet candles on sale recently. They brightened our December evenings, twinkling away. I loved seeing our new mantelpiece on display - a great contrast to the old plain brown one. The tree
Like last year, we bought our Killiecrankie Farm Christmas tree from Lee who delivered it to kind Karen at Karen Wagner Garden & Design. Here we are collecting it. The decorations Adding some Planet Joy touches pleased me no end. I present Exhibit 1. And Exhibit 2. Filling these glass baubles with Liberty scraps was quick and brought me such pleasure.
The presents The pixies were happy to awake to a sea of blue under the tree. There were old school goodies this year. Like totem tennis. Childhood memories, anyone? Tilly the teddy melted India's heart. And Hot Wheels cars were to Sammy's liking.
The family fun
For the first time, we hosted my family - 9 adults and 7 littlies under 8! It was noisy but fabulous. Seeing the cousins playing together so happily made my heart swell. My Dad would have loved it. The cousins sat together. Well, not all at the same time - that would be asking too much of the wrigglers! We adults enjoyed this succulent turkey with all the trimmings - good one, Mr PB! The ham was served on this beautiful old family heirloom.
The cake But the best was saved until last - my Mum's Christmas fruitcake decorated by my oh-so-clever cousin, Karen, of Karen Bakes Cakes. Can you believe her talent? I can't. Here's a close-up of the Jolly Fellow. Hmm, the pixies have since polished him off!
So, this has been a whopper post but now I feel like I've caught back up with you again. I'll pop back tomorrow to review our year. Tell me, did you see anything here which made you smile? I'm all ears!
