CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE 2011 - commentary

A Beatifully taillored collection of skirts and jackts against an inspired backdrop of Paris by night - but minus the tacky aspects which can occur with this theme.

The Chanel collection is nothing if not smart and cohesive. Beatifully cut cropped jackets made way for high waisted, peplumed skirts. A Monochromatic collection with a beautiful and surprizing injection of hot pink - although Chanel is not my favourite fashion house, I have to admit that this collection got my attention. My favourite item on the runway being the hot pink suit below.

I almost feel that Lagerfeld has made up for all that was missing in yesterdays Dior show. His collection pulled together and told a story of sophisticated Parisien style, with a side of sexy fun, Though those boots are hideous and anything but sexy in my book.

The monochrome night time set, which i think represents Place de Vendome in the center of Paris, was stunningly simple and classic Chanel. Held inside Le Grande Palais, everything about this show said sophistication.
