As we all know Galliano is no longer the king of fashion; loosing his prestigious jobs at the helm of Dior & his signiture Galliano label earlier in the year.
But this is not the only change to occur. In this seasons menswear shows here in Paris there was much talk of new designers at Balmain, tailors at YSL and an overall feeling of freshness and rejuvination within the collections themselves.
It seems that a few people are upset or even indifferent to these new faces in the limelight, but we should be excited by them. Fashion is all about change, invention & reinvention, the fashion wheels kep on turning and designers revolve, changing from one brand to another, employing new talents, or retiring, but thats all part of what we love about this industry.
Its time that these new names got there chance to to bask in the light; sameness is what makes fashion and life go stale, thats when we need to shake things up, and what a better time to do so than in summer when the positive vibes are at there highest?
I too feel disappointed at loosing Galliano, but as a young new designer this change is what keeps me going, knowing that I myself should one day have the chance to shine. Fashion is about looking forward, not looking back, and although we may be sad at leaving the good times that have passed us by, we should embrace the future and wish these new fashion designers the best of luck. We will keep our eyes on them for sure, we will judge but we should also give them the opportunity to prove themselves, what can be more exciting than watching someone grow infront of our very eyes?
