Chico Urban Travel System Pram and Pushchair Review

Over the course of this month, two and half month old Logan and I have been putting Chicco's convertible pram and pushchair travel system to the test. I feel that the Urban is a pram that has been designed for parents who seek a modern style of pram, both visually and in it's ability to adapt as a travel system.

Chico Urban Travel System Pram and Pushchair ReviewIt takes only a few easy steps to convert the all-in-one reversible seat into a carrycot - a great feature for those who don't like the idea or hassle of having to have both a seat andcarrycot. Laid flat the Urban can be used from birth whilst out for a stroll and there's a soft white padding that you can insert inside of the carrycot, which is a great touch and helps to ensure a soft, warm and cosy place for your baby to sleep. The Urban can also be used with the Chicco Auto-Fix Fast Group 0+ car seat (sold separately, suitable from birth to 13kgs). To use the Urban with the car seat, the car seat adaptor accessory which is also sold separately, is required. To use the car seat and adapter, you simply remove the seat unit and replace it with with the adapter which fits onto the pushchair chassis. The whole process of transforming the pushchair for different uses is incredibly easy - usually my Husband is in charge of this sort of thing but with the Urban I find adapting it for my needs exceptionally simple. When your child is older the seat can be raised and used either front or rear facing (but my little Logan is not quite old enough for that just yet and so we're just using ours as a carrycot or with the car seat for shorter trips).

The Urban is customisable - the black base unit can be customised by adding one of nine different colour packs to it - we chose gray as I personally love the modern look of gray coloured prams. I think that the fact that this pushchair can be color customised will really appeal to parents. Usually us parents are forced in to choosing between different coloured prams, but the Urban is great in that it gives us the option of being able to change the color of our pram daily if we wanted to and owned the different color packs.

Chicco Urban Travel System ReviewWhen folded down the Urban doesn't take up a lot of room in the boot of my car, which is great especially now that I have two children and less room in my car. I do sometimes struggle to fold it down, but I'm sure this is just me being forgetful and not remembering how to collapse it properly. The steering on it isn't the smoothest I've ever steered, but it is by no means difficult, I just mean when compared to the likes of the Silver Cross Pioneer and the Stokke Crusi (but those two come with a much higher price tag). I love the big basket on this pram, but like most prams when used with a carrycot, it's a little hard to access with the carrycot in use. Height wise, the handle is adjustable which is a great feature, I personally prefer pushchairs to be quite tall, especially when used with a carrycot, but this seems to be quite rare and most seem to be the standard-size that the Urban is. Again I am comparing to the size of the Stokke - which my Husband says he thinks is too tall. I think it's totally personal preference and to be quite honest, I'm just thinking for those who may be quite fussy about that sort of thing - I'm not sure if it even matters too much. Overall I think Chicco have done a fantastic job with the Urban - it's both modern in the visual sense and in the practical sense, I can see that it'll be quite popular. Chico Urban Travel System Pram and Pushchair Review*This product was provided for the purpose of an honest review.
